Accuracy of transthoracic sonography in excluding post-interventional pneumothorax and hydropneumothoraxComparison to chest radiography

European Journal of Radiology, 2005
Transthoracic sonography (TS) has evolved as an important imaging technique for diagnosing pleural and pulmonary conditions. However, the value of TS in either excluding or diagnosing pneumothorax is still under debate. This study was conducted to examine whether TS could replace chest radiography for the diagnosis of post-interventional pneumothorax ...

Radiation-Induced Skin Injuries During Interventional Radiography Procedures

Journal of Radiology Nursing, 2010
Abstract The use of interventional radiography has increased tremendously over the last 40 years. With the increased number of interventional procedures, the incidents of radiation-induced skin injuries have also increased. Injuries caused by radiation can result in simple erythema to complex injuries involving blistering and hyperpigmentation of skin.

[Reduction of radiation exposure for patient and investigator in interventional radiography].

RoFo : Fortschritte auf dem Gebiete der Rontgenstrahlen und der Nuklearmedizin, 1998
In a retrospective analysis of vascular interventional procedures, relations between parameters of the examination and radiation exposure of patient and medical personnel are examined.1208 vascular interventional procedures are evaluated. Interventional procedures are divided into three groups: percutaneous transluminal angioplasty, implantation of a ...

A 7‐min video training intervention improves worker short‐term radiation safety behavior during small animal diagnostic radiography

Veterinary Radiology & Ultrasound, 2020
AbstractAlthough manual restraint for small animal diagnostic radiography is common, worker protection is often not optimized, particularly for hands and eyes. Radiation safety training videos generally include hours of material on content other than personal protective equipment (PPE), have limited content, if any, on reducing dose to the lens of the ...

SU‐DD‐A2‐05: Quality Assurance Methodology to Monitor Patient Dose in Interventional Radiography

Medical Physics, 2005
Purpose: The purpose of this preliminary quality assurance project is to use thermoluminescent dosimeters (TLD) to monitor the equivalent dose patients receive while undergoing interventional radiology procedures at our institution. Method and Materials: A TLD is placed centrally on the collimator face of two AP tubes in the angiography department for ...

DeepDRR - A Catalyst for Machine Learning in Fluoroscopy-guided Procedures

International Conference on Medical Image Computing and Computer-Assisted Intervention, 2018
Machine learning-based approaches outperform competing methods in most disciplines relevant to diagnostic radiology. Interventional radiology, however, has not yet benefited substantially from the advent of deep learning, in particular because of two ...

[Selective salpingography and tubal interventional radiography].

Revue francaise de gynecologie et d'obstetrique, 1992
The study involved 70 patients considered to be sterile and in whom hysterosalpingography showed no tubal passage. Selective catheterisation enabled opacification under pressure in more than 80 p. cent of cases, with perfect visualisation of the entire tubes and significant peritoneal passage.

Radiation exposure to personnel in cardiological interventional radiography

2010
Purpose: The doses received by the people involved in the cardiologic procedures can be quite high when compared to the annual dose limits. The highest annual dose in 2008 in cardiologic procedures in Finland was 25,8 mSv, measured over lead apron.

CT and chest radiography are equally sensitive in the detection of pneumothorax after CT-guided pulmonary interventional procedures.

American Journal of Roentgenology, 1990
Pneumothorax is the most common complication after CT-guided pulmonary interventional procedures and should be promptly diagnosed and treated. Because it is easier to obtain CT scans than chest radiographs after CT-guided interventional procedures, it is important to know the sensitivity of CT in detecting pneumothoraces.
