Traumatic Displacement of the Cartilagenous Vertebral Rim: A Sign of Intervertebral Disc Prolapse
Forward displacement of the ossified portion of the vertebral rim has been observed from the lower margin of C-2 and/or C-3 vertebrae in 4 adolescents, a finding which heralds prolapse of the contiguous intervertebral disc. Healing occurs with osteophyte formation at the site of injury.

Abstract We have developed a simple, low-cost, and innovative design — known as a “disc emulator” to mimic the mechanical response of a motion segment (vertebra - intervertebral disc-vertebra) of the human spinal column under axial compression loads.

Overloading effect on the osmo-viscoelastic and recovery behavior of the intervertebral disc
Proceedings of the Institution of mechanical engineers. Part H, journal of engineering in medicineIn vitro studies investigating the effect of high physiological compressive loads on the intervertebral disc mechanics as well as on its recovery are rare.

Semi-automatic segmentation of intervertebral disc for diagnosing herniation using axial view MRI
International Conference on Advanced Technologies for Signal and Image Processing, 2020We consider the problem of lower back pain and sciatica due to the loss of the disc’s height and the displacement of vertebrae. Our spine represents a combination of discs and vertebrae; between each two vertebrae, we can find an intervertebral disc.

A Study of Vertebral Displacement Due to Disc Loading and Its Risks when Using Lumbar Assist Devices
2024 IEEE International Conference on Mechatronics and Automation (ICMA)This paper examines the displacement of the vertebral body caused by the difference in the reduction rate of compression and shear forces on the intervertebral disc, which is suggested by the use of lumbar assist devices, and the risks associated with ...
