Associations Between Sum Scores or Combinations of MRI Findings in the Lumbar Spine and Low Back Pain‐Related Outcomes: A Systematic Review

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Pain, Volume 29, Issue 7, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Background and Objective Research on lumbar MRI findings has mainly focused on single MRI findings and their association with low back pain (LBP). Some studies suggest that summing or combining MRI findings may show stronger associations with LBP than single findings.

Extracellular Matrix Signaling Cues: Biological Functions, Diseases, and Therapeutic Targets

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 8, August 2025.
Targeting ECM dysregulation: therapeutic strategies for disease intervention. Dysregulated ECM composition and biomechanics contribute to disease pathogenesis in cancer and fibrotic disorders. Physical modulation: Nanomedicine‐based strategies tune ECM physical properties (e.g., density, stiffness) to enhance drug penetration and therapeutic efficacy ...

Molecular Mechanisms of Chronic Pain and Therapeutic Interventions

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 8, August 2025.
We offer a comprehensive overview of the distinctive molecular mechanisms underlying nociceptive, neuropathic, and nociplastic pain, including the immune responses, ion channels, monoaminergic imbalance, and neuroinflammation. Subsequently, we summarized the status quo of nociceptive, neuropathic, and nociplastic pain managementmanipulation.

Double‐Step R1rho‐Based Lorentzian Fitting (DROF): A New CEST Analysis Approach and Its Comparison With Existing Methods

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 38, Issue 8, August 2025.
A new CEST analysis approach, named double‐step R1rho‐based Lorentzian fitting (DROF), with initial value randomization, was developed for extracting multiple CEST contrasts at 3 T. The improved specificity and stability of DROF over existing methods were confirmed through simulation and in vivo human data, utilizing a newly proposed evaluation ...

Headache After Sealing of Cerebrospinal Fluid Leaks in Patients With Spontaneous Intracranial Hypotension

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Neurology, Volume 32, Issue 8, August 2025.
ABSTRACT Introduction Spontaneous intracranial hypotension (SIH) is an important cause of headache that might require invasive treatment. The aim of this study was to systematically investigate (1) clinical presentation, (2) factors associated with incomplete headache resolution, and (3) the long‐term outcomes in patients with persistent headache after

Discospondylitis as a consequence of jugular vein septic thrombophlebitis in a Standardbred gelding

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Education, Volume 37, Issue 8, Page e159-e165, August 2025.
Summary This report describes the identification of C7‐T1 discospondylitis on myelography and confirmed on postmortem computed tomography and necropsy in a 4‐year‐old Standardbred gelding as the consequence of jugular vein catheterisation and secondary septic thrombophlebitis. Staphylococcus aureus was isolated from both sites.

Comparison of Biportal Endoscopic Technique and Conventional Unilateral Laminectomy for Bilateral Decompression (ULBD) for Multi‐Level Degenerative Lumbar Spinal Stenosis in Elderly People

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 8, Page 2302-2312, August 2025.
The red line on the left and the blue line on the right represent the surgical field of view for BE‐ULBD and ULBD surgeries, respectively. It can be seen that BE‐ULBD significantly enhances the surgical field of view and makes it easier to expose the contralateral nerve root.

Bone Cement Augmentation for Cervical Vertebrae‐Ossification of the Posterior Longitudinal Ligament Complex Contributes to Anterior Controllable Antedisplacement and Fusion in Patients With Osteoporosis

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery, Volume 17, Issue 8, Page 2479-2485, August 2025.
Anterior controllable antedisplacement and fusion (ACAF) is an effective strategy in treating cervical ossification of the posterior longitudinal ligament (C‐OPLL). The controllable antedisplacement of vertebrae‐OPLL complex (VOC) through screws is both the most critical and technically challenging procedure.
