Modulating Macrophage–Nucleus Pulposus Cell Crosstalk via Sequential Drug Delivery Attenuates Disc Degeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The G‐CS/MSN drug delivery system enhances intervertebral disc repair through sequential drug release. Abstract Intervertebral disc degeneration (IDD) is characterized by an inflammatory environment and dysregulation of the extracellular matrix metabolism (ECM).

CLINICAL AND MAGNETIC RESONANCE IMAGING CHARACTERISTICS OF THORACOLUMBAR INTERVERTEBRAL DISK EXTRUSIONS AND PROTRUSIONS IN LARGE BREED DOGS.

open access: yesVeterinary Radiology & Ultrasound, 2016
Treatment recommendations differ for dogs with intervertebral disk extrusion vs. intervertebral disk protrusion. The aim of this retrospective, cross-sectional study was to determine whether clinical and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) variables could ...

A mouse coccygeal intervertebral disc degeneration model with tail‐looping constructed using a suturing method

open access: yesAnimal Models and Experimental Medicine, EarlyView.
A novel, simple coccygeal intervertebral disc degeneration model, using a suturing method for tail‐looping, without the need for external fixation and complex surgery. The model has high reproducibility and stability and overcomes the disadvantages of the existing animal models of disc degeneration.

Investigation by the Method of Integral Equations of the Stress State of the Implant an Intervertebral Disk at Axisymmetric Loading

open access: yesМеханика машин, механизмов и материалов, 2013
The stress state of an anisotropic ring disk of an implant of the intervertebral disk at complex axisymmetric loading is investigated in the work. The method of the integral equations is applied to the calculation of a stresses in a disk.

Differences in Epidural Pathology between Cervical and Thoracolumbar Intervertebral Disk Extrusions in Dogs

open access: yesJournal of Veterinary Internal Medicine, 2017
Background Although the basic pathophysiology is the same in both cervical and thoracolumbar intervertebral disk (IVD) extrusions, there are considerable clinical differences that have only been partially explained.

Morphology and function of pinniped necks: The long and short of it

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Terrestrial vertebrates from at least 30 distinct lineages in both extinct and extant clades have returned to aquatic environments. With these transitions came numerous morphological adaptations to accommodate life in water. Relatively little attention has been paid to the cervical region when tracking this transition.
