Establishment and biological characterization of radioresistant colorectal cancer cell lines
Under ionizing radiation exposure, radiation‐sensitive cancer cells exhibit oxidative stress and DNA damage, while radiation‐resistant cancer cells exhibit strong antioxidant properties and DNA damage repair. Radiotherapy resistance is a major cause of recurrence and metastasis in colorectal cancer (CRC).

Visualizing intestines for diagnostic assistance of ileus based on intestinal region segmentation from 3D CT images [PDF]
This paper presents a visualization method of intestine (the small and large intestines) regions and their stenosed parts caused by ileus from CT volumes. Since it is difficult for non-expert clinicians to find stenosed parts, the intestine and its stenosed parts should be visualized intuitively.

Great progress in understanding the mechanisms of fat absorption by the mammalian intestine has been made in the past decade and a half. In contrast to the contentions of rival theorists of the century before this, it has been possible for many ...

Identification of binding proteins for cholesterol absorption inhibitors as components of the intestinal cholesterol transporter [PDF]
To identify protein components of the intestinal cholesterol transporter, rabbit small intestinal brush border membrane vesicles were submitted to photoaffinity labeling using photoreactive derivatives of 2-azetidinone cholesterol absorption inhibitors ...

Cerebral organoids were employed as a novel model to explore the neurotoxicity of soman. Soman inhibited acetylcholinesterase activity, increased cell apoptosis and upregulated endoplasmic reticulum (ER) stress markers glucose‐regulated protein 78 (GRP78), activating transcription factor 6 (ATF6) and C/EBP homologous protein (CHOP).

Digestion Modelling in the Small Intestine : Impact of Dietary Fibre [PDF]
In this work, we continue the modelling of the digestion in the small intestine, started in a previous article, by investigating the effects of dietary fibre. We recall that this model aims at taking into account the three main phenomena of the digestion, namely the transit of the bolus, the degradation of feedstuffs and the absorption through the ...

Calcium interference with intestinal absorption of manganese
Background and Objectives: calcium is the most abundant mineral in the body, making up nearly 2% of total body weight. This element has several roles in organisms. Manganese is an essential trace element which is taken part in the structure of some metal

Assessment of absorption of four lignan constituents of JingNing particles in rat gut using in situ single-pass intestinal perfusion [PDF]
Purpose: To study small intestinal absorption of schisadrol A, schisandrol B, schizandrin A and schisandrin B in JingNing particles using in situ single-pass intestinal perfusion (SPIP).Methods: Absorption rate constant (Ka) and apparent permeability ...

Feedback patterns in simulating intestinal wall motions: interdisciplinary approach to the motility mechanisms [PDF]
Ability of smooth muscles to contract in response to distension plays a crucial role in motor function of intestine. Qualitative analysis of dynamical models using myogenic active property of smooth muscles has shown well agreement with physiologic data.
