Jejunal atresia associated with idiopathic ileal perforation

open access: yesJournal of Indian Association of Pediatric Surgeons, 2008
Jejunoileal atresia is one of the common causes of neonatal intestinal obstruction. Intestinal perforation with meconium peritonitis in the neonatal period, which carries a high mortality rate, is also common.

Prolapse of the Small Intestine from the Uterine Perforation at Dilatation and Curettage

open access: yesCase Reports in Obstetrics and Gynecology, 2014
Dilatation and curettage (D&C) sometimes causes uterine perforation, which usually does not cause a serious problem. Here, we report uterine perforation caused by D&C, in which the small intestine prolapsed from the uterus, requiring intestinal resection.

The model of circular and longitudinal smooth muscle motions in the motility of intestinal segment [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Coordination in circular and longitudinal muscle motions are of crucial importance in the motor function of gastrointestinal (GI) tract. Intestinal wall motions depend on myogenic-active properties of smooth muscles layers of intestinal wall, which is the ability to create active contractile forces in response to distension.

Recent advances in understanding and managing diverticulitis. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
In the past few decades, the increasing socioeconomic burden of acute diverticulitis (AD) has become evident, and with the growth of the population age, this significant economic impact will likely continue to rise. Furthermore, recent evidence showed an

TUBERCULOUS PERFORATIONS OF THE SMALL INTESTINE

open access: yesInternational Journal of Clinical Practice, 1999
SUMMARYThe hospital records of 58 patients operated on for tuberculous perforations of the small intestines at our hospital between 1987 and 1996 were reviewed. Clinical features were non‐specific in the majority of the patients. Pneumoperitoneum on abdominal radiographs was present in only 28 (48.3%) patients.

Endovascular Treatment of Malfunctioning Dialysis Fistulas: A Multicenter Retrospective Analysis Comparing Transradial and Conventional Transvenous Access

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Venous outflow is the favored access for endovascular management of dialysis fistulas. However, transradial access (TRA) offers advantages in specific clinical scenarios. The study aims to compare the efficacy, feasibility, and safety of TRA and transvenous access (TVA) in the endovascular management of malfunctioning dialysis ...

Upscaling method for problems in perforated domains with non-homogeneous boundary conditions on perforations using Non-Local Multi-Continuum method (NLMC) [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
In this paper, we present an upscaling method for problems in perforated domains with non-homogeneous boundary conditions on perforations. Our methodology is based on the recently developed Non-local multicontinuum method (NLMC). The main ingredient of the method is the construction of suitable local basis functions with the capability of capturing ...

Diagnosis of dental problems in pet rabbits (Oryctolagus cuniculus) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
Dental problems are very common in pet rabbits. To establish a correct diagnosis of rabbit dental pathology, a general knowledge of normal dental anatomy and physiology is necessary.

Safety and Efficacy of a Plug‐Based Vascular Closure Device After Percutaneous Microaxial Flow Pump in the Treatment of Complex and High‐Risk Indicated Patients

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Femoral large‐bore vascular access is an important and constantly increasing technique in interventional treatment. Temporary circulatory support in complex and high‐risk indicated patients (CHIP) presents a challenge in terms of postinterventional access site closure.

Use of ReCross to Increase Success Rate With Antegrade CTO PCI—A Multicenter Observational Study

open access: yesCatheterization and Cardiovascular Interventions, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Antegrade approach remains one of the predominant techniques for CTO PCI. Success rates have increased significantly recently due to advancements in devices and strategies, along with the hybrid algorithm. ReCross is a uniquely modified microcatheter with two over‐the‐wire lumens and three exit ports, offering significant potential ...
