A unique case of late-onset CIPO caused by a missense mutation in the long isoform of FLNA

open access: yesFrontiers in Genetics
Mutations in the filamin A (FLNA) gene cause a broad range of disorders, affecting musculoskeletal, nervous, vascular, and gastrointestinal systems, collectively known as filaminopathies.

Absence of the interstitial cells of Cajal in a neonate with segmental dilatation of ileum

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, 2016
Segmental dilatation of intestine (SD) is a congenital disease characterized by localized bowel dilation with normal ganglion cells. Clinically, small intestinal type of SD frequently occurs in the neonatal period with pseudo-obstruction.

A 3D Astrocyte Microenvironment Model Enables Rapid Ca2+‐Resolved Analysis and Therapeutic Modulation of Oxidative Neuroinflammation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents ARC‐3D, a soft 3D model that recreates how brain support cells, called astrocytes, react to oxidative stress. The system visualizes rapid calcium changes and inflammatory signals, and shows how the drug KDS12025 can protect cells from damage. ARC‐3D offers a simple, reliable way to study early drivers of brain inflammation.

Oxygen and ROS Delivery for Infected Wound Healing and Future Prospects

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Bacterial infection is a major driver of delayed wound healing and postsurgical readmissions; with rising antibiotic resistance, solid peroxide–releasing biomaterials offer sustained delivery of ROS/O2 for antimicrobial control and microenvironmental modulation.

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

Challenges in management and prognosis of pediatric intestinal pseudo-obstruction.

open access: yesThe Turkish Journal of Gastroenterology, 2020
BACKGROUND/AIMS Pediatric intestinal pseudo-obstruction (PIPO) is the most severe form of intestinal dysmotility in children. This study aims to present the cases of PIPO to discuss its diagnosis, management, and prognosis.

Circularly Polarized Polariton Lasing from Spin‐Momentum Locking in Deformed Plasmonic Kagome Cavities

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This paper describes room‐temperature polariton lasing with high circular polarization from deformed plasmonic Kagome lattice cavities strongly coupled to colloidal CdSe nanoplatelets. Spin‐selectivity from cavity modes resulted in control over the handedness of circular polarization as well as the direction of polariton lasing, opening prospects for ...

Resolution of infantile intestinal pseudo-obstruction in a boy

open access: yesJournal of Pediatric Surgery Case Reports, 2017
A term boy with spontaneous passage of meconium exhibited episodes of abdominal distension and diarrhea. Due to failure to thrive and suspicion of Hischsprung's disease he was referred to our university hospital at five months of age.
