Intestinal Volvulus: Angiographic Findings

Radiology, 1978
Intestinal volvulus may be the underlying process in patients presenting with intestinal ischemia. INTESTINAL VOLVULUS: A NEW CONCEPT

Australian and New Zealand Journal of Surgery, 1983
A concept of the aetiology of intestinal volvulus is presented based on the fact that bowel when distended becomes elongated. The antimesenteric border of the bowel elongates more than the mesenteric border and this provides the driving force which initiates and sustains the volvulus. It is, therefore, a secondary event resulting from distention.

Volvulus of small intestine

The American Journal of Surgery, 1936
Abstract A study has been made of 34 patients on whom 37 operations were performed for volvulus of the small intestine. The etiologic factors were most frequently found to be peritoneal adhesions and congenital anomalies. In about half the cases signs of intestinal obstruction were present without interference with the circulation.
