Thick vortices in SU(2) lattice gauge theory [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2004
Three dimensional SU(2) lattice gauge theory is studied after eliminating thin monopoles and the smallest thick monopoles. Kinematically this constraint allows the formation of thick vortex loops which produce Z(2) fluctuations at longer length scales. The thick vortex loops are identified in a three dimensional simulation.

Diameter, width and thickness in the hyperbolic plane [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2020
This paper contains a new concept to measure the width and thickness of a convex body in the hyperbolic plane. We compare the known concepts with the new one and prove some results on bodies of constant width, constant diameter and given thickness.

Penile vascular status in young men living with HIV experiencing erectile dysfunction: A comparative cross‐sectional pilot study

open access: yesAndrology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Erectile dysfunction in people living with HIV is a multifactorial disease, but the role of penile vascular status assessed by dynamic penile color Doppler echography is underexplored. Objectives This study assessed penile vascular status in young males living with HIV experiencing erectile dysfunction, comparing them to HIV ...

Ethnic Differences in Carotid Intima-Media Thickness Between UK Children of Black African-Caribbean and White European Origin. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
BACKGROUND AND PURPOSE: UK black African-Caribbean adults have higher risks of stroke than white Europeans and have been shown to have increased carotid intima-media thickness (cIMT).

Endothelial damage and complement dysregulation in fetuses from pregnancies complicated by preeclampsia

open access: yesActa Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, Volume 104, Issue 5, Page 829-838, May 2025.
Preeclampsia fetuses show an altered profile of endothelial damage and complement biomarkers, like increased adhesion molecules, prothrombotic state, oxidative stress, and reduced complement membrane attack complex deposition on endothelial cells. Abstract Introduction Our objective was to evaluate the endothelial function profile and complement system

Intima-Media Thickness: Setting a Standard for a Completely Automated Method of Ultrasound Measurement [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
The intima - media thickness (IMT) of the common carotid artery is a widely used clinical marker of severe cardiovascular diseases. IMT is usually manually measured on longitudinal B-Mode ultrasound images.

Young Healthy Individuals With a First‐Degree Relative With Type 1 Diabetes Displayed Adverse Lipid Changes

open access: yesActa Paediatrica, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim Timeline of atherosclerosis in children with type 1 diabetes is unknown. We aimed to investigate if familial risk of type 1 diabetes is associated with pro‐atherosclerotic changes. Methods Young first‐degree relatives to patients with paediatric type 1 diabetes and sex and age matching controls were enrolled at Skåne University Hospital ...

The thickness of amalgamations of graphs [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
The thickness $\theta(G)$ of a graph $G$ is the minimum number of planar spanning subgraphs into which the graph $G$ can be decomposed. As a topological invariant of a graph, it is a measurement of the closeness to planarity of a graph, and it also has important applications to VLSI design.
