Distributions in spaces with thick submanifolds [PDF]

open access: yesElectron. Res. Arch. 32 (2024), 6660-6679
We present the construction of a theory of distributions (generalized functions) with a ``thick submanifold'', that is, a new theory of thick distributions on $\mathbb{R}^n$ whose domain contains a smooth submanifold on which the test functions may be singular.

Skinning bounds along thick rays [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
We show that the diameter of the skinning map of an acylindrical hyperbolic 3-manifold M is bounded on thick Teichmueller geodesic rays by a constant depending only on the thickness of the ray and the topological type of the boundary of M.

Epilepsy–heart syndrome: Concept, clinical context, and opportunity for integrated care

open access: yesEpilepsia, EarlyView.
Abstract In this concept paper, we introduce epilepsy‐heart syndrome as a shared burden of illness between epilepsy and cardiac disorders. This pragmatic definition is agnostic of which condition came first (the epilepsy or the cardiac disorder), recognising that these conditions can each serve as a risk factor for the other owing to a bidirectional ...

Single injection of intra‐articular autologous protein solution in horses with acute interleukin‐1B‐induced synovitis decreases joint pathology scores

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, Volume 57, Issue 3, Page 806-816, May 2025.
Abstract Background Autologous protein solution (APS) has been shown to decrease lameness in horses with osteoarthritis (OA). Synovitis is an early driver of OA, providing an opportunity to intervene in the progression of disease via intra‐articular (IA) therapeutics.

Long-term use of first-line highly active antiretroviral therapy is not associated with carotid artery stiffness in human immunodeficiency virus-positive patients

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Infectious Diseases, 2014

Synovial fluid alpha‐2‐macroglobulin, gelsolin and lubricin distinguish between osteoarthritic and healthy equine joints

open access: yesEquine Veterinary Journal, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Synovial fluid (SF) is an ideal sentinel fluid for osteoarthritis (OA) diagnosis and prognostication due to its critical homeostatic role, proximity to articular tissues and immune cell composition. Untargeted proteomics enable identification of soluble markers for diagnostic and therapeutic applications while minimising bias ...

The role of atherosclerosis in HIV‐associated vasculopathy in young South African stroke patients

open access: yesHIV Medicine, Volume 26, Issue 4, Page 633-642, April 2025.
Abstract Background HIV‐associated vasculopathy is known to cause stroke in people living with HIV (PLWH). The role of atherosclerosis is unclear. We assessed the aetiology of vasculopathy in PLWH and tested the utility of markers of subclinical atherosclerosis to distinguish atherosclerotic (AV) from non‐atherosclerotic vasculopathy (NAV).

Pengaruh Pemberian Ekstrak Tauge Kacang Hijau (Vigna Radiata (L.)) terhadap Ketebalan Tunika Intima-Media Aorta Abdominalis pada Tikus Wistar Jantan yang diberi Stres Fisik (The Effect of Mung Bean (Vigna radiata (L.)) Sprout Extract on Tunica Intima-Me [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Mung bean (Vigna radiata (L.)) sprout contains antioxidants especially vitamin E that can prevent oxidative stress and maintain cell membranes from lipid peroxidation, so the development of atherosclerosis can be inhibited.
