Transition Engineering co-design sprint: oil company business model

open access: yesFrontiers in Sustainability
International oil companies (IOCs) face competing pressures to reduce production to meet climate targets while delivering expected shareholder value. These competing pressures create a dissonance surrounding the future business strategy of IOCs.

Tunable Bioresorbable Scaffolds With Marine Sulfated Polysaccharides for Small‐Caliber Vascular Grafts: A Multi‐Layered Strategy Combining Electrospinning and 4‐Axis Printing

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A multilayered small‐caliber vascular scaffold combining electrospinning and 4‐axis printing is developed and biofunctionalized with marine sulfated polysaccharides from Holothuria tubulosa. The resulting construct exhibits enhanced hemocompatibility, tunable mechanical properties, and supports endothelial and smooth muscle cell adhesion and ...

Nanotherapies for Atherosclerosis: Targeting, Catalysis, and Energy Transduction

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Atherosclerosis management is hindered by poor drug targeting and plaque heterogeneity. Nanotechnology overcomes these barriers via three core strategies: (1) target‐engineered nanocarriers that achieve lesion‐specific precision via ligand modification, biomimetic camouflage, stimuli‐responsive release, and self‐propelling nanomotors; (2) catalytic ...

Adaptive Partitioning for Large-Scale Dynamic Graphs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
—In the last years, large-scale graph processing has gained increasing attention, with most recent systems placing particular emphasis on latency. One possible technique to improve runtime performance in a distributed graph processing system is to reduce

Deployable 3D‐Printed Vascular Stent with Surface‐Catalysed Endogenous Nitric Oxide Generation

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A deployable 3D‐printed vascular stent was fabricated with surface‐catalyzed endogenous nitric oxide generation, representing a promising new direction for stent development. The stent can be remotely controlled by magnetic force in its compressed state and fully deployed at the target site using an untethered heat source, potentially eliminating the ...

Bioabsorbable Endovascular Adhesive Tape (BEAT) for Improving Vascular Regeneration

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A bioabsorbable endovascular adhesive tape (BEAT) platform based on a hierarchical polyelectrolyte complex is developed to enhance drug delivery in the DCB system. The coating enables rapid transfer to the vessel, provides short‐term mechanical support, and promotes both immediate transfer and long‐term retention of drugs at the lesion site.

Boethius and the Block Universe: Physical and Metaphysical Considerations of Time [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
In this exploration of the nature of time, the author shows that more than a superficial belief in a creator God invites the person of faith to engage with some of the unsettling questions presented by modern physics and cosmology. He considers how human

Targeting the Mapk13‐Tcf1‐Slc7a5 Axis via One‐Carbon Metabolic Regulation to Prevent Chronic Allograft Vasculopathy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study emphasizes the role of the Mapk13‐Tcf1‐Slc7a5‐methionine metabolism axis in stem‐like CD4+ T cells. Moreover, it uncovers the mechanism through which limiting one‐carbon metabolism in CD4+ stem‐like T cells suppresses the tide of chronic allograft vasculopathy, offering potential targets to promote long‐term graft survival.
