Case report : Acute unintentional carbachol intoxication

open access: yes, 2006
Introduction: Intoxications with carbachol, a muscarinic cholinergic receptor agonist are rare. We report an interesting case investigating a (near) fatal poisoning.

MetalCenter‐Dependent Selectivity Divergence in MN4 Single‐Atom Catalysts for Aerobic HMF Oxidation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Two single‐atom catalysts with M‐N4 configurations (FeN4 and CoN4) were developed for selective HMF oxidation. FeN4 achieves 93.9% selectivity toward FFCA via superoxide anions (O2•−), while CoN4 preferentially produces FDCA through hydroxyl radicals (•OH). DFT calculations reveal that distinct adsorption energies and charge redistribution at the metal

Aligned Fibronectin Microenvironment Temporally Facilitates Profibrotic Fibroblast Activation via Integrin α5β1

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Compared to a healthy random nanofibrous fibronectin microenvironment, a fibrotic aligned nanofibrous fibronectin microenvironment employs a specific integrin, α5β1 integrin, to activate early pro‐fibrotic fibroblast behaviors and later fibrotic fibroblast tissue formation with cell/F‐actin alignment, α‐SMA expression, and cell‐driven aligned ...

Banishing evidence of intoxication in determining whether a defendant acted voluntarily and intentionally [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
As the title suggests, this paper argues that evidence of intoxication should be inadmissible for all offences, including murder. Such an argument is justified on public policy grounds, and by the proposition that principles of criminal law relating to ...

Mass‐Transport–Engineered CCM Architecture Employing MPL‐Free Carbon Paper and Graphene‐Coated Ni Foam Channels for High‐Temperature PEM Fuel Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A CCM‐based architectural strategy is introduced for high‐temperature PEM fuel cells, enabling MPL‐free carbon paper gas diffusion layers via decal‐transfer processing. By co‐engineering the CCM, GDL, and a G‐foam flow field, oxygen transport is enhanced while phosphoric‐acid leakage is suppressed, resulting in high power density and stable operation ...

Intoxication and homicide [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
This article presents a context-specific analysis of intoxication and homicide. Substantial proportions of homicides involve alcohol and/or drug intoxication, yet this remains an under-researched phenomenon in the United Kingdom.

First Drink to First Drunk: Age of Onset and Delay to Intoxication are Associated with Adolescent Alcohol Use and Binge Drinking

open access: yesAlcoholism: Clinical and Experimental Research, 2014
Background Quickly progressing from initiating alcohol use to drinking to intoxication recently was identified as a novel risk factor for hazardous drinking in college students (Morean, Corbin, & Fromme, 2012).
