Mucins in prostatic intra-epithelial neoplasia and prostatic carcinoma

Histopathology, 1993
A histochemical study of 27 well‐differentiated prostatic carcinoma cases associated with prostatic intra‐epithelial neoplasia (PIN) was carried out. In the histological areas examined a decreasing production of neutral mucin was found as follows: normal prostatic tissue (70%), prostatic carcinoma (55%), PIN 1 (50%), PIN 2 (30%) and PIN 3 (15%).

Human papillomavirus and vulval intra-epithelial neoplasia

Best Practice & Research Clinical Obstetrics & Gynaecology, 2001
The association between human papillomavirus vulval skin infection and vulval intra-epithelial neoplasia is strong. Vulval skin carcinogenesis is, however, multifactorial. Both human papillomavirus oncogenic subtype infection and p53 mutations are likely to contribute to the risk of malignant transformation of normal epithelium.

LASER VAPORIZATION OF CERVICAL INTRA‐EPITHELIAL NEOPLASIA

Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica, 1984
Abstract. 300 patients, 18–43 years of age, with CIN I‐III were treated between 1979 and 1983 with laser vaporization. The follow‐up for 12–60 months has been analysed. The healing rate after one treatment session was 91%. Residual disease was discovered without delay using colposcopy and vaginal cytology and retreatment could easily be arranged.Eight

Endosonography of high-grade intra-epithelial neoplasia/early cancer

Best Practice & Research Clinical Gastroenterology, 2009
Endosonography (EUS) is frequently used for staging of early malignant gastrointestinal lesions. High-grade intra-epithelial neoplasia (HGIN) and mucosal cancer have a very low risk for lymphatic metastasis and therefore are suitable for endoscopic therapy. In HGIN and early oesophageal and gastric cancer, high-frequency miniprobes can provide detailed

Colposcopy and cervical intra-epithelial neoplasia

Obstetrics, Gynaecology & Reproductive Medicine, 2010
Abstract Cervical cancer is both preventable and curable. It has a long natural history with a prolonged pre-cancerous phase that is easily detectable and treatable. Exfoliative cytology has been the mainstay for screening of cervical intra-epithelial neoplasia (CIN).
