Enhancement of the Through‐Thickness Electrical Conductivity of Carbon‐Fiber‐Reinforced Plastics Using Large Graphite Particles

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
To enhance through‐thickness conductivity without sacrificing impregnation, large spherical graphite particles are intentionally employed in a low‐viscosity resin. Unlike finer conductive fillers, these particles remain outside the fiber bundles and accumulate in resin‐rich interlaminar regions during molding.

Microstructure‑Dependent Phase Transformations Under High‑Pressure Laser Heating in Additively Manufactured AlCrFe2Ni2

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Additively manufactured AlCrFe2Ni2 with contrasting BCC/B2‐dominant and lamellar FCC + BCC/B2 microstructures exhibits the same pressure‐induced BCC/B2 → HCP transformation. Under laser heating at high pressure, HCP is destabilized, and a cubic BCC/B2 + FCC assemblage is recovered, while the lower‐scan‐speed microstructure transforms at a lower ...

Structure‐Guided Dynamical Mechanics in Bioinspired Double Twisted Laminated Thin Films

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This work explores a dynamic mechanistic study of crack propagation and puncture testing via real‐time monitoring of crack initiation, propagation, and termination through nature‐inspired single and double twisted architectures fabricated from cellulose nanocrystals.

Silicone bubble giving double trouble

open access: yesTNOA Journal of Ophthalmic Science and Research
Cataract formation following silicone oil (SO) implantation is a common entity following retinal intervention due to lens touch. Other causes of lens opacity are light toxicity, oxidation of lens protein, and use of intra-ocular gas in managing posterior

The effect of mivacurium pretreatment on intra-ocular pressure changes induced by suxamethonium

open access: yes, 1998
Forty patients without eye disease, undergoing elective nonophthalmic surgery, were studied in a double-blind, randomised, placebo-controlled study evaluating the efficacy of mivacurium pretreatment in attenuating the rise in intra-ocular pressure in ...

Light‐Induced Field‐Tunneling Synapses in Solution‐Processed Van Der Waals Heterostructures for Scalable, Retina‐Inspired Optical Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A scalable, solution‐processed WSe2/ZrO2‐x van der Waals heterostructure realizes a light‐induced field‐tunneling synapse (LIFTS) that activates exclusively under bright illumination, emulating the photopic adaptation of the human retina at the device level.

Covalent Functionalization of 2D Semiconductors: A Roadmap to Advanced Electronic Devices

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This Review presents recent advances in the covalent functionalization strategies for two‐dimensional semiconductors and their implementation in modern technologies. Layered materials are modified through diverse molecular chemistries (e.g., thiols, diazonium salts, alkyl halides, and electron‐deficient species) to tailor their surface properties ...

Relationship between central corneal thickness, intra ocular pressure and visual field in normal tension and primary open angle glaucoma

open access: yesمجله دانشگاه علوم پزشکی گرگان, 2012
Background and Objective: Glaucoma is one of the most important cause of blindness wordwide. Exact determination of intra ocular pressure is important for the diagnosis and decision making about glaucoma treatment. Central corneal thickness is considered

Modified extracapsular extraction versus endocapsular phacoemulsification: intraoperative and immediate postoperative events Extração extracapsular modificada versus facoemulsificação endocapsular: eventos intra e no pós-operatórios imediato

open access: yesArquivo Brasileiro de Medicina Veterinária e Zootecnia, 2007
The clinical events and variations in intraocular pressure (IOP) that occur in endocapsular phacoemulsification technique were compared to the modified extracapsular extraction technique during the intraoperative and immediate postoperative periods ...
