Adaptive intra mode bit skip in intra coding
APCCAS 2008 - 2008 IEEE Asia Pacific Conference on Circuits and Systems, 2008To reduce spatial redundancies in intra coding, Intra 4times4 mode provides nine directional prediction modes for every 4times4 block. In this paper, an adaptive intra mode bit skip method is proposed to improve coding efficiency in intra coding. The proposed method improves coding efficiency and reduces encoding complexity.

Efficient intra-mode coding method in video coding
TENCON 2012 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2012This paper proposes an efficient intra-mode coding method using the deviation of neighbor pixels. In HEVC, the number of intra-prediction modes is increased in order to improve coding performance for intra-prediction as compared to H.264/AVC.
