Percutaneous Closure of Perivalvular Leakage After Aortic Valve Replacement Using Preoperative 3D Printing Technology Guidance: A Case Report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports
We report a case of transcatheter paravalvular leak (PVL) closure assisted by three‐dimensional (3D) printing and intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) in a patient with complex valvular history. A 70‐year‐old male manifested acute exacerbation of dyspnea,

Clinical and Pathophysiological Interplay Between Patent Ductus Arteriosus and Patent Foramen Ovale: A Comparative Narrative Review

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
Patent ductus arteriosus may contribute to persistent or reopened patent foramen ovale through secondary pulmonary hypertension and altered right‐sided cardiac pressures. Although concurrent PDA and PFO have not been clearly documented in veterinary medicine, comparative evidence from human literature supports a potential haemodynamic interaction ...

Intracardiac Echocardiography: An Invaluable Tool in Electrophysiological Interventions for Atrial Fibrillation and Supraventricular Tachycardia

open access: yesReviews in Cardiovascular Medicine
Researchers have investigated ways to develop optimal imaging techniques to increase the safety and effectiveness of electrophysiological (EP) procedures. Intracardiac echocardiography (ICE) is an advanced imaging tool that can directly visualize cardiac

Palliative Debulking of an Aortic Body Tumour With Right Atrial Invasion in a Dog Under Partial Cardiopulmonary Bypass

open access: yesVeterinary Medicine and Science, Volume 12, Issue 5, September 2026.
This report describes a French Bulldog that developed severe right‐sided congestive heart failure due to mechanical obstruction of venous return by a heart‐base tumor extending into the right atrium. Partial cardiopulmonary bypass‐assisted palliative debulking relieved the obstruction and temporarily improved clinical signs and ascites.

Non‐Invasive Assessment of Endothelial Dysfunction and Arterial Stiffness in Fontan Circulation

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Clinical Investigation, Volume 56, Issue 9, September 2026.
The Fontan procedure is the definitive treatment for complex congenital heart disease, creating a circulation without a subpulmonary ventricle. This altered hemodynamic state negatively affects endothelial function, contributing to progressive organ dysfunction and long‐term morbidity.

Intracardiac masses detected by echocardiography: Case presentations and review of the literature

open access: yes, 2000
Intracardiac masses are often diagnosed by transthoracic echocardiography (TTE). Transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) improves overall visualization of masses, especially those located in the posterior cardiac structures.

Comparison of Pentaspline Pulsed Field Ablation Catheter Mapping Modes to Assess Pulmonary Vein Isolation for Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Volume 37, Issue 9, Page 2023-2030, September 2026.
Pentaspline mapping in pulsed field AF ablation. ABSTRACT Background We assessed the electro‐anatomic mapping (EAM) capabilities of a pulsed field ablation (PFA) system previously guided by fluoroscopy to assess acquisition modes, and effects of near and far‐field signal.

Impact of Carina Width on Re‐Ablation Rate of Atrial Fibrillation After Primary Cryoballoon‐Ablation

open access: yesJournal of Cardiovascular Electrophysiology, Volume 37, Issue 9, Page 1947-1955, September 2026.
Right side carina width is associated with the incidence of reconnection of RPVs and re‐ablation. Increased left side carina width was associated with re‐ablation rate, but there was no association with reconnection of the LPVs. ABSTRACT Background Reconnection of the pulmonary veins (PVs) is the primary cause of atrial fibrillation (AF) episodes after

Comparison of Transthoracic and Transesophageal Echocardiography in the Diagnosis of Intracardiac Tumors in Adults

open access: yes, 2008
To compare transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography in the diagnosis of intracardiac tumors, 17 patients (8 men and 9 women, aged 19 years to 67 years) whose intracardiac tumors were detected by echocardiography were studied in a 4-yea5 ...
