The Correlations of Clinical Outcomes and Vascular Morphology With Infarct Patterns in Middle Cerebral Arterial Occlusion [PDF]

open access: yesBrain and Behavior, Volume 16, Issue 2, February 2026.
For stroke caused by large vessel occlusion in M1 segment of middle cerebral artery (MCA), a tortuous and long M1 segment of contralateral MCA (cMCA) correlates with the onset of borderzone infarct. In those with a less tortuous cMCA‐M1 segment, a thin and short M1 segment correlates with large infarct.

Association between ischemic stroke and hyperintense plaques detected by high-resolution vessel wall MRI in Japanese patients with intracranial atherosclerotic disease [PDF]

open access: yesFrontiers in Stroke
BackgroundConventional MRI sequences are insufficient for the detailed depiction of intracranial atherosclerotic disease (ICAD) plaques. The aim of this study was to investigate the association between ischemic events and intracranial atherosclerotic ...

Successful Catheter‐Directed Thrombolysis for a Patient With Intermediate‐High‐Risk Pulmonary Embolism: A Case Report [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 14, Issue 2, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Acute pulmonary embolism (PE) is a prevalent cardiovascular condition with significant mortality and morbidity. Treatment strategies vary according to risk stratification. While anticoagulation is sufficient for low‐risk patients, high‐risk cases often necessitate systemic thrombolysis (ST) or surgical embolectomy.

Intracranial Occlusion in Cryptogenic Stroke Is Not Predictive of Recurrent Ischemic Stroke: A Propensity‐Score Matched Analysis of the Cardiac Abnormalities in Stroke Prevention and Risk of Recurrence Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease
Background Intracranial occlusions in embolic stroke of undetermined source are histopathologically similar to cardiac sources of embolism.

Changes over Time in Intracranial Air in Patients with Cerebral Air Embolism: Radiological Study in Two Cases

open access: yesCase Reports in Neurological Medicine, 2015
Cerebral air embolism can be easily identified on computed tomography (CT) scans. However, changes in the distribution and amount of intracranial air are not well known.

Preoperative Embolization of Intracranial Meningiomas

open access: yesNeurologia medico-chirurgica, 1985
The method and results for preoperative embolization are described in 36 cases with intracranial meningiomas. Embolization materials were injected through a transfemoral catheter, selectively placed in the external carotid artery. Chopped gelfoam served as embolization material in 29 patients and ivalon particles were used in 7 patients.

Ostial common carotid artery occlusion and balloon-mounted stenting: Implication of embolic protection device in tandem lesion

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports, 2021
Ostial common carotid artery (CCA) stenosis is rare, compared to extracranial internal carotid artery bifurcation lesions. In cases of a tandem lesion, the proximal lesion usually involves the extracranial internal carotid artery, and the ostial CCA is ...

Intracranial fat embolization due to baclofen pump [PDF]

open access: yesNeurology, 2005
A 38-year-old woman presented with sudden headaches, hyperacusis, and photophobia 3 months after baclofen pump placement for spasticity due to multiple sclerosis. CT demonstrated hypoden- sities within the basilar cisterns and temporal horn of the lateral ventricles (figure, A and B). MRI of the neural …
