ABSTRACT Background Intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasms with low‐grade dysplasia (IPMNs w/LGD) and benign cysts, including serous cystadenomas (SCAs), are common pancreatic cystic lesions (PCLs) that are better managed conservatively. The burden of patients who undergo surgical resection for these cysts is unknown.

ABSTRACT This international, multidisciplinary consensus report represents the first effort to systematically define and characterize fatty pancreas. A key outcome of this endeavor was the recommendation to adopt “fatty pancreas” as the standardized and inclusive term to describe all forms of fat accumulation in the pancreas.

Radial scars/complex sclerosing lesions (RS/CSL) without atypia have a low upgrade rate (1%) and could possibly be monitored radiologically, thus avoiding excision. Papillary lesions without atypia have a higher upgrade rate (4%) and should continue to undergo vacuum excision until we better understand these heterogeneous lesions.
