European Consensus on Malabsorption—UEG & SIGE, LGA, SPG, SRGH, CGS, ESPCG, EAGEN, ESPEN, and ESPGHAN

open access: yesUnited European Gastroenterology Journal, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Malabsorption is a complex and multifaceted condition characterised by the defective passage of nutrients into the blood and lymphatic streams. Several congenital or acquired disorders may cause either selective or global malabsorption in both children and adults, such as cystic fibrosis, exocrine pancreatic insufficiency (EPI), coeliac ...

Pancreatic Fat Accumulation Impacts Postoperative Survival in Patients With Pancreatic Ductal Adenocarcinoma

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Fatty pancreas was pathologically assessed and quatificated using tumor and non‐tumor portions of resected specimens in patients with pancreatic cancer. We found that the presence of fatty pancreas evaluated in non‐tumor portions was an independent inferior prognostic indicator for overall survival and recurrence free survival.

REMEDI: REinforcement learning-driven adaptive MEtabolism modeling of primary sclerosing cholangitis DIsease progression [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
Primary sclerosing cholangitis (PSC) is a rare disease wherein altered bile acid metabolism contributes to sustained liver injury. This paper introduces REMEDI, a framework that captures bile acid dynamics and the body's adaptive response during PSC progression that can assist in exploring treatments.

postulating a common tumor entity [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The set definition of distal cholangiocarcinomas and adenocarcinomas of the pancreatic head is challenged by their close anatomical relation, similar growth pattern, and corresponding therapeutic outcome. They show a mutual development during embryologic

Invasive intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma : a comparison in clinicopathology and long-term outcome [PDF]

open access: yes, 2022
Background: The resections for both pre-malignant and invasive intraductal papillary mucinous neoplasm (inv-IPMN) have increased the last decades. Long term outcome, and the impact of adjuvant chemotherapy, non-regional lymph node status and recurrence ...

Physiologically-Based Pharmacokinetic Modeling of Blood Clearance of Liver Fluorescent Markers for the Assessment of the Degree of Hepatic Ischemia-Reperfusion Injury [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
During liver transplantation, ischemia-reperfusion injury (IRI) is inevitable and decreases the overall success of the surgery. While guidelines exist, there is no reliable way to quantitatively assess the degree of IRI present in the liver. Our recent study has shown a correlation between the bile-to-plasma ratio of FDA-approved sodium fluorescein (SF)

Gallbladder papillary neoplasms share pathological features with intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct

open access: yesOncotarget, 2017
Intraductal papillary neoplasm of the bile duct (IPNB) has been widely recognized. However, the knowledge of intracystic papillary neoplasm of the gallbladder (IPNG) including papillary adenoma and adenocarcinoma is not well defined. In this study, we compared the clinicopathological and immunohistochemical features between 32 IPNG cases and 32 IPNB ...

A case of intraductal tubulopapillary neoplasm of the pancreas originating from the branch duct: cast in the mold sign [PDF]

open access: yes, 2021
A 59-year-old man with jaundice and lower common bile duct stenosis was referred to our institution for diagnosis and treatment. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging showed a well-circumscribed smoothly marginated solid mass lesion in the ...

Real‐World Data Analysis of Genomic Alterations Detected by a Dual DNA–RNA Comprehensive Genomic Profiling Test

open access: yesCancer Science, EarlyView.
This study analyzed 1356 cases using GenMineTOP, Japan's first dual DNA–RNA CGP test, and identified oncogenic alterations in 91.5% of cases. The RNA panel detected 105 fusion events, including 11 NTRK fusions. Furthermore, the analysis clarified the independent effects of genomic abnormalities and cancer type on RNA expression, providing valuable ...
