A competition between N---O and C---O through space interactions in the crystal structures of 3,3'-dinitro-2,2'-bipyridine N-oxides and N,N'-dioxides [PDF]
The crystal structures of a series of 3,3’-dinitro-2,2’-bipyridine N-oxides and N,N’-dioxides consistently show 1,5 interactions between nitro oxygen atoms and aromatic carbon atoms ((ON)O---C: 2.623(2)-2.839(2) Å) while there are also 1,6 interactions ...

Conformational control by intramolecular hydrogen bonding
Hydrogen bonds are directional, non-covalent interactions between hydrogen and electronegative atoms. Although generally weak, these interactions are critical to the stability of many biological systems including proteins and DNA. This dissertation explores small molecules in which an intramolecular hydrogen bond is the key determinant of conformation.

Chemical Upcycling of Polyphenylene Sulfide at Room Temperature
Poly(phenylene sulfide) (PPS) is a semi‐crystalline super engineering plastic with exceptional properties. An iron‐photocatalyzed strategy is reported for chemical upcycling of PPS plastics at room temperature using 1,2‐dichloroethane. The method demonstrates remarkable efficiency across diverse PPS resins and post‐consumer composites, even within ...

The molecule of the title compound, C21H14N2O3S2, is approximately planar except for the terminal carbon atom of the ethyl group. The planarity is promoted by two short intramolecular S...O=C contacts and one intramolecular ‘weak' C—H...O=C hydrogen bond.

This study develops an iridium‐based nanozyme (IIN@M) with superior enzyme‐like activity and photothermal performance. It disrupts intracellular redox balance by generating reactive oxygen species and depleting glutathione, which synergistically induces ferroptosis, pyroptosis, and immunogenic cell death.
