Potent and Long‐Lasting Immunogenicity Generated by LNP‐mRNA gE Antigen Against Varicella Zoster Virus via an AI‐Assisted Pipeline

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study designs a novel mRNA‐LNP vaccine targeting VZV glycoprotein E (gE) for herpes zoster via an AI‐assisted pipeline. Validated in mice and rhesus macaques, the mRNA‐LNP vaccine shows strong humoral and cellular immune responses, with CD4+ T‐cell responses more effective and durable than Shingrix, offering a promising prophylactic option ...

Total Parathyroidectomy with Subcutaneous Parathyroid Forearm Autotransplantation in the Treatment of Secondary Hyperparathyroidism: A Single-Center Experience. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Introduction Secondary hyperparathyroidism is common in chronic kidney disease. Parathyroidectomy is indicated in refractory hyperparathyroidism when medical treatments and so the parathyroid hormone levels cannot be lowered to acceptable values without

Examination of Intramuscular Injection Practices of Midwifery and Nursing Department Students

open access: yesVan Tıp Dergisi, 2018
INTRODUCTION: Intramuscular injection is one of the fundamental duties of the nurses and midwives. Despite it was seen as a simple and basic application, many complications caused by wrong intramuscular applications were reported in the literature.

Designer Solid Self‐Emulsifying Nanovaccines Enable Dual Modulation of Dendritic Cells and T Cells for Potent Antitumor Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A solid self‐emulsifying (SSE) platform is loaded with peptide antigens and CpG to form the SSE vaccine. An ApoE‐enriched corona promotes dendritic cell internalization, enabling antigen presentation and T cell activation. Squalene from the SSE also sensitizes T cells by promoting lipid raft formation.

Recovery from repeated sudden hearing loss in a patient with Takayasu’s arteritis treated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy: the first report in the literature [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Hearing loss has been rarely reported in Takayasu's arteritis, presents as sudden sensorineural hearing loss and usually responds well to corticosteroid therapy.

A Rationally Engineered Spleen‐Tropic One‐Component Lipid‐mRNA Complex (OncoLRC) for Cancer Vaccines

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
OncoLRC, a one‐component lipid‐mRNA complex, enables efficient spleen‐targeted delivery at an exceptionally low lipid‐to‐mRNA mass ratio (1.5:1), robustly activates immune responses, inhibits tumor growth, and synergizes with checkpoint blockade, presenting a next‐generation platform for mRNA vaccines.

Intramuscular methylprednisolone administration in hand osteoarthritis patients: a feasibility study to inform a randomized controlled trial

open access: yesTherapeutic Advances in Musculoskeletal Disease
Background: Inflammation is thought to play an important role in hand osteoarthritis (HOA), which is associated with pain and increased limitation of hand function. Objectives: To explore the acceptability of therapy with intramuscular methylprednisolone

Diffusion‐MRI‐Based Estimation of Cortical Architecture via Machine Learning (DECAM) in Primate Brains

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
We present Diffusion‐MRI‐based Estimation of Cortical Architecture via Machine Learning (DECAM), a deep‐learning framework for estimating primate brain cortical architecture optimized with best response constraint and cortical label vectors. Trained using macaque brain high‐resolution multi‐shell dMRI and histology data, DECAM generates high‐fidelity ...

Administering LAAIs: an education and training workshop [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
This is the second of two articles that focus on the inter-collaborative work, between education and practice, to enhance theoretical and practical delivery for mental health nurses when administrating long-acting antipsychotic injections (LAAIs).

Contribution of Gli1+ Adventitial Stem Cells to Smooth Muscle Cells in Atherosclerosis and Vascular Injury

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Gli1+ adventitial stem cells (ASCs) have been thought to generate smooth muscle cells (SMCs) in atherosclerosis. Using a dual‐recombinase lineage tracing to exclude ectopic labeling, Wang et al. found that Gli1+ ASCs do not contribute to SMCs in atherosclerotic plaques.
