환자의 치료에서 많은 비중을 차지하는 약물치료 중 근육주사는 빠르고 정확한 흡수를 기대할 수 있어 가장 많이 이용되는 비경구적 약물투여방법이나 그 사용빈도가 증가함에 따라 합병증의 보고가 증가하고 있다. 근육주사의 합병증 중에서도 빈번하게 발생하는 주사부위 조직손상은 환자에게 지속적인 불편감을 초래할 뿐 아니라 약물의 흡수를 저하시켜 환자의 치유를 지연시키는 요인이 될 수 있다.
