Shear Wave Optical Coherence Elastography and Structural Analysis of the Postnatal Mouse Cornea through Development

open access: yesJournal of Biophotonics, EarlyView.
This paper investigates the geometrical and biomechanical properties of neonatal eyes at the early stages of development. We found that the corneal thickness is uncoupled from elastic wave speed and that the content and organization of the cornea primarily influence its mechanical properties.

Combined flanged intrascleral intraocular lens fixation with corneal transplant

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports, 2019
Purpose: To report clinical outcomes and surgical technique of flanged intrascleral intraocular lens fixation with double-needle combined with either penetrating keratoplasty (PKP) or ultrathin Descemet-stripping automated endothelial keratoplasty (UT ...

Complications of frontal defects [PDF]

open access: yes, 1987
A case where the severe course of an orbital phlegmon led to a functionally and cosmetically poor condition is presented. Thirty-five years later, it was possible to achieve a satisfactory result through several operations performed with ...

Estimation of intraocular lens position from full crystalline lens geometry: towards a new generation of intraocular lens power calculation formulas

open access: yesScientific Reports, 2018
In a cataract surgery, the opacified crystalline lens is replaced by an artificial intraocular lens (IOL). To optimize the visual quality after surgery, the intraocular lens to be implanted must be selected preoperatively for every individual patient ...

Advancing environmentally sustainable learning health systems: Perspectives from a Canadian health center

open access: yesLearning Health Systems, EarlyView.
Abstract Background There is increasing demand for health systems to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and invest in climate‐resilient health care. Coordinating organizational structures and processes for reducing health system emissions presents challenges. Learning health systems, defined as systems that seek to continuously generate and apply evidence,

Secondary toric intraocular lens implantation for post-operative ammetropia and astigmatism after small incision cataract surgery

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Ophthalmology and Research, 2013
We report a case of 56-year-old female who had undergone left eye small incision cataract surgery 2 months earlier with history of no visual gain uncorrected after surgery. On examination, she had a superior scleral tunnel incision with 6.5 mm optic poly

Effect of Photo‐Initiation Polymerization and Thermal‐Initiation Polymerization on the Reduction of Glistening in Hydrophobic Acrylic Intraocular Lens Materials

open access: yesMacromolecular Chemistry and Physics, EarlyView.
Glistening is the condensation of water that forms within intraocular lens (IOL), which can degrade the patient's vision quality. Photo‐initiation and thermal‐initiation polymerization are widely used for the preparation of IOL materials. An interesting result is obtained that the glistening of photopolymerized IOL materials is much smaller than that ...

Variation in intraocular lens calcification under different environmental conditions in eyes with supplementary sulcus-supported lenses

open access: yesAmerican Journal of Ophthalmology Case Reports, 2020
Purpose: Analysis of explanted intraocular lenses (IOLs) from pseudophakic eyes with supplementary sulcus-supported IOLs. Methods: In this laboratory investigation, ten supplementary and capsular bag IOLs were analyzed.

Effectiveness of multifocal and monofocal intraocular lenses for cataract surgery and lens replacement: a systematic review and meta-analysis

open access: yesGraefe's Archive for Clinical and Experimental Ophthalmology, 2019
PurposeMultifocal intraocular lenses (IOLs) offer the possibility of spectacle-free vision following cataract surgery compared to standard IOLs. Existing systematic reviews have generally concluded that multifocal IOLs result in better uncorrected near ...
