Capsulotomy With Supine Nd:YAG Laser in Children
ABSTRACT Objectives To evaluate the visual outcomes of Nd:YAG laser posterior capsulotomy performed in the supine position under general anesthesia in children with visual axis opacification after cataract surgery. Materials and Methods A retrospective clinical case series of 13 eyes of 9 children with visual axis opacification following congenital ...

Glaucoma is increasingly understood as a neurodegenerative disorder shaped by sleep and circadian physiology, not intraocular pressure alone. Sleep loss and obstructive sleep apnea suppress BDNF–TrkB neurotrophic signaling, impair sleep‐dependent glymphatic clearance, and trigger microglial neuroinflammation and vascular insult at the optic nerve head,

Abstract Background Oral non‐steroidal anti‐inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) are commonly used for analgesia in dogs with spontaneous chronic corneal epithelial defects (SCCEDs). Topical NSAIDs can delay epithelialisation and promote stromal melting, but the safety of systemic NSAIDs in SCCEDs is unknown.

Effect of hemodialysis on intraocular lens power calculation [PDF]
To evaluate changes in ocular biometric parameters after hemodialysis (HD) in patients with end-stage renal disease (ESRD).Forty eyes of 40 patients undergoing HD were included in this cross-sectional study. Keratometry (K) readings, white-to-white (WTW) distance, central corneal thickness (CCT), anterior chamber depth (ACD), pupil diameter, lens ...

Nonthermal plasma approaches for combating implant‐associated infections: A compendious review
Implant‐associated infections pose serious clinical challenges. Non‐thermal plasma (NTP) modifications overcome this bottleneck in distinct ways relative to traditional sterilization methods. Gas‐phase plasmas generate highly energetic species, UV radiation and reactive oxygen/nitrogen species (RONS), which alter the implant surface properties.

Gut microbiota dysbiosis in the inflammatory pathogenesis of diabetic retinopathy
This graphical abstract illustrates how gut dysbiosis drives diabetic retinopathy through the gut‐retina axis, a process unfolding in three interconnected stages. First, in the gut, a decrease in beneficial bacteria and an increase in pro‐inflammatory taxa compromise the intestinal barrier, causing a “leaky gut” that allows LPS to translocate into the ...
