Integration of Cholesterol Oxidase‐Based Biosensors on a Smart Contact Lens for Wireless Cholesterol Monitoring from Tears

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
The combination of a parity‐time symmetry wireless technology with a cholesterol sensor integrated into a smart contact lens enables high‐sensitivity cholesterol sensing at low concentration. Cholesterol plays a critical role in physiological functions, but elevated levels increase the risk of cardiovascular disease.

Anatolian ground squirrel (Spermophilus xanthoprymnus) retina: Comparative expression of synaptophysin, NeuN, calbindin‐D28k, parvalbumin, glial fibrillary acidic protein, and Iba‐1 during pre‐hibernation and hibernation

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, EarlyView.
Abstract Hibernation induces significant molecular and cellular adaptations in the retina to maintain function under reduced metabolic conditions. This study aimed to investigate the expression of neuronal, synaptic, and glial markers in the retina of Spermophilus xanthoprymnus during pre‐hibernation and hibernation periods using immunohistochemical ...

Nanostructured drug delivery systems for posterior segment eye diseases: Strategies to defy ocular barriers

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Efficient drug delivery to the posterior segment of the eye has long been a challenging issue due to the complex ocular barriers. The review focuses on the promise held by nanoplatforms for barrier penetration and the key mechanisms involved, also highlighting their advantages in achieving efficient drug delivery and superior treatment of PSEDs ...

Partial vitreous occlusion of Ahmed glaucoma valve implant with controlled intraocular pressure: a case report

open access: yesJournal of Medical Case Reports
Background The Ahmed glaucoma valve implant is effective in reducing intraocular pressure, yet it poses a risk of complications such as vitreous occlusion of the tube, potentially resulting in elevated intraocular pressure or retinal issues.

ANATOMO-TOPOGRAPHIC AND HYDRODYNAMIC PARAMETERS OF THE EYE AFTER CATARACT PHACOEMULSIFICATION

open access: yesAlʹmanah Kliničeskoj Mediciny, 2016
Background: Removal of the native lens alters spatial relationships between anterior eyeball structures and results in fluctuations in intraocular pressure. Intraocular pressure control is important for the prevention of early postoperative complications.
