Neural Plasticity and Hearing‐Speech Development in Children with Auditory Brainstem Implants for Congenital Hearing Loss Due to Severe Inner Ear Malformation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Data from a prospective cohort with 112 auditory brainstem implant users are analyzed. Younger age at implantation (<3 years), less severe inner‐ear malformation (common cavity, cochlear aplasia, and hypoplasia), and more intraoperative eABR evoked electrodes (≥60%) are associated with better hearing and speech outcomes.

Dual‐Biomimetic Bone Adhesive with Osteoimmunomodulatory Capabilities for Anatomical Reconstruction of Comminuted Fractures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A structurally and functionally dual bionic bone adhesive is engineered through an organic–inorganic cohesion strategy, which significantly reinforces the adhesive's bone tissue adhesion as well as osteogenic activity. In a pioneering rabbit radius comminuted fracture model, the bone adhesive exhibits exceptional capability in immobilizing bone ...

A systematic review and meta-analysis of systemic intraoperative anticoagulation during arteriovenous access formation for dialysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Purpose: Surgical arteriovenous fistula (AVF) or graft (AVG) is preferred to a central venous catheter for dialysis access. Surgical access may suffer thrombosis early after placement and systemic anticoagulation during surgical access formation may ...
