Rupture processes of the 1987–1988 Gulf of Alaska Earthquake Sequence [PDF]
Three large earthquakes occurred in the Gulf of Alaska during 1987–1988: one on November 17, 1987 (M_w = 7.2), the second one on November 30, 1987 (M_w = 7.8), and the third one on March 6, 1988 (Mw = 7.7).

The 7 March 1988 North Pacific Intraplate Earthquake
A detailed analysis is made of an unusual North Pacific intraplate event that occurred on 7 March 1988 approximately 500 km off the coast of the Japanese island of Hokkaido. It is the largest event recorded in the seismically quiet area by nearly an order of magnitude and has an anomalous mb/Ms ratio (mb=5.8, Ms=5.1). The short‐period response recorded

Foreshock migration preceding the 2016 Mw 7.0 Kumamoto earthquake, Japan
We investigated the spatiotemporal evolution of an earthquake sequence following a series of large shallow intraplate earthquakes, including a Mw 6.2 foreshock and Mw 7.0 main shock, in the Kumamoto area of Kyushu, SW Japan.

Flexure of the Indian plate and intraplate earthquakes
The flexural bulge in central India resulting from India's collision with Tibet has a wavelength of approximately 670 km. It is manifest topographically and in the free-air gravity anomaly and the geoid. Calculations of the stress distribution within a flexed Indian plate reveal spatial variations throughout the depth of the plate and also a function ...

Wavelet maxima curves of surface latent heat flux anomalies associated with Indian earthquakes [PDF]
Wavelet maxima curves of surface latent heat flux (SLHF) have been recently used to provide early warning information about coastal earthquakes. The present paper reports further validations of the spatial and temporal analysis of wavelet maxima curves ...

Modelling of earthquake swarms suggests magmatic fluids in the upper crust beneath the Eger Rift
Earthquake swarms are enigmatic seismic phenomena that occur across diverse tectonic settings, from volcanic to intraplate regions, and are often associated with fluid migration, magmatic activity, or stress redistribution. The Northwest Bohemia/Vogtland
