ABSTRACT Rocking podium isolation systems have gained significant research interest as a method of limiting seismic demands on superstructures and eliminating residual post‐earthquake drifts through self‐centring behaviour. However, while numerous models of varying complexity, including analytical, phenomenological, and physical formulations, have been

Revisions to the 2023 U.S. 50‐State National Seismic Hazard Model
We present an update to the 2023 U.S. 50‐state National Seismic Hazard Model, based on questions and comments received from a range of users, as well as additional internal and building code reviews since its initial release. For the conterminous United States, the update includes (1) revised weighting of ground motion models in the Intermountain West,

Pacific intraplate seismicity reexamined
Extensive and comprehensive examination of all recorded earthquakes occurring during 1913–1988 in the intraplate regions of the Pacific Ocean crust shows that Pacific Basin intraplate earthquakes are much less frequent than previous catalogs and maps have suggested “Wysession et ai, 1991”.

Mid-plate South America remains one of the least-studied regions of intraplate seismicity. Little is known about the origin and controlling factors that make this area the least seismically active intraplate region in the world.

Most earthquakes occur at plate boundaries, but some also strike within stable continental interiors. Although dominant causes of such intraplate earthquakes remain elusive, a prevailing hypothesis attributes intraplate stress and seismicity to ...

Salt Tectonics and Inversion Style in the Southeastern Iberian Chain
Abstract The southeastern Iberian Chain is characterized by Mesozoic rift basins that were subsequently inverted during Alpine contraction. We integrate geological mapping, borehole data, balanced cross‐sections, structural restoration, and forward kinematic modeling to evaluate how rift architecture controlled Alpine deformation from basin to crustal ...

Reactivation Potential of Intraplate Faults in the Western Quebec Seismic Zone, Eastern Canada
The intraplate western Quebec seismic zone (WQSZ) in eastern Canada experiences moderate seismicity that mainly results from reactivation of inherited structures under the present‐day, NE‐SW‐striking regional maximum horizontal stress (SH) and, possibly ...

Abstract The dual seismological developments of large‐scale offshore observational networks and high‐quality machine‐learning earthquake detection and picking allow unprecedented seismicity detection in high hazard subduction zones. We develop a high resolution machine learning enhanced seismicity catalog for the Alaska Peninsula stretch of the Alaska ...

Abstract On 2 May 2025, an Mw 7.4 earthquake occurred ∼120 km off the southern tip of Tierra del Fuego, at the transition of the Shackleton Fracture Zone and the Chile Trench. This event exhibits reverse‐faulting mechanisms with relatively steeply dipping planes and is the largest recorded along this complex plate boundary.
