Abstract Igneous Plumbing Systems in sedimentary basins comprise a complex of interconnected intrusive bodies that lead to volcano formation, though their 3D distribution and dynamics are not fully understood. We characterized the post‐breakup igneous plumbing systems at the Santos and Campos Basins using wells and 3D high‐resolution seismic and ...

The evolution of the Sicily Channel Rift Zone (SCRZ) is thought to accommodate the regional tectonic stresses of the Calabrian subduction system. Much of the observations we have today are either limited to the surface or to the upper crust or deeper ...

Extreme intensity of fluid-rock interaction during extensive intraplate volcanism [PDF]
Abstract The initial formation and temporal evolution of large igneous plateaus and the extent to which these large enigmatic igneous features impact on their immediate and distant ecological surrounding remains a matter of active research. The compositional variability in large igneous provinces has mainly been attributed to changes in the melting ...

Abstract Many intraplate volcanic chains are explained as hotspot trails formed by plate motion over mantle plumes, yet some deviate from this model. The Rodrigues Ridge, a volcanic lineament extending eastward from the Réunion hotspot track toward the Central Indian Ridge (CIR), is one such case.

Evidence for Petit‐Spot Volcanism in the Puerto Rico Trench
Petit‐spot volcanism occurs in intraplate settings along the outer rise of subducting plates. Here we present evidence for petit‐spot type of volcanism from multibeam bathymetry and backscatter data from the Puerto Rico Trench (PRT).

Abstract The late Eocene to early Oligocene is an intriguing Paleogene period in which the Earth climate state changed from Warmhouse to Coolhouse. Accurate age models are essential for investigating these climate transitions. The southwestern Pacific International Ocean Discovery Program (IODP) Site U1553, with its almost complete succession of the ...

Abstract The Changbaishan volcanic field, which includes the Tianchi and Wangtian'e volcanoes in China and the Namphothe volcano in North Korea, is one of the most complex and hazardous volcanic regions on Earth due to its tectonic setting and explosive Holocene activity.
