Vancomycin‐Functionalized Nanodelivery Systems for Antibacterial Tissue Engineering Scaffolds

open access: yesAdvanced NanoBiomed Research, Volume 6, Issue 1, January 2026.
This review consolidates recent advancements in VAN nanoformulations, critically evaluating their design principles, release mechanisms, and efficacy profiles against resistant Gram‐positive pathogens. While promising in vitro and in vivo results have been demonstrated, the clinicaltranslation of these technologies necessitates further rigorous ...

Spinal Epidural Pneumorrhachis Progressing to Holospinal Epidural Abscess: A Case Report

open access: yesCase Reports in Infectious Diseases, Volume 2026, Issue 1, 2026.
Background Pneumorrhachis is an uncommon finding rarely associated with infection by gas‐producing organisms. Although frequently benign, pneumorrhachis may indicate a severe infectious process when accompanied by systemic illness. Spinal epidural abscess (SEA) is a rare but potentially devastating condition; its progression to a holospinal process is ...

THE TREATMENT OF TETANUS BY INTRANEURAL AND INTRASPINAL INJECTIONS OF ANTITOXIN.

open access: yes, 1905
Some recent laboratory studies in the toxicology of tetanus seem to offer a little more hopeful therapy than has hitherto prevailed. To make the subject clear, it is necessary to review, briefly, what is known of the micro-organism, its poison and the ...

Air In the Spine: A Rare Gas-Filled Cyst.

open access: yesWorld Neurosurgery
Gas-containing intraspinal synovial cysts (ISCs) are rare, and few surgical reports are available. This case highlights the importance of considering synovial cysts on the differential for presentations of radiculopathy and demonstrates successful ...

Rare Case of Acute Pulmonary Thromboembolism After Internal Fixation of Multiple Rib Fractures

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 9, September 2025.
ABSTRACT Acute pulmonary thromboembolism (PTE) after isolated multiple rib fractures is rare; although surgical stabilization of rib fractures (SSRF) is a relatively safe and effective treatment for multiple rib fractures with dislocation, perioperative PTE should be given sufficient attention by clinicians. The standardized prevention of perioperative

Spatiotemporal Dynamics of Central Nervous System Diseases: Advancing Translational Neuropathology via Single‐Cell and Spatial Multiomics

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 9, September 2025.
Central nervous system (CNS) diseases are driven by spatiotemporally dynamic molecular networks. Single‐cell and spatial multiomics technologies dissect cellular heterogeneity, microenvironmental remodeling, and intercellular crosstalk. Integration of transcriptomic, epigenomic, proteomic, and metabolomic layers reveals disease‐associated regulatory ...

First‐In‐Human Application of Human Umbilical Cord‐Derived Extracellular Vesicles in Tethered Spinal Cord Release Surgery

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Vesicles, Volume 14, Issue 6, June 2025.
ABSTRACT Spina bifida is a congenital neural tube defect that has a high risk of secondary neurological deterioration due to tethering of the spinal cord. We present the first application of human umbilical cord‐derived mesenchymal stromal cell‐derived extracellular vesicle (UC‐MSC‐EV) therapy in humans during spina bifida surgery.

Neural canal ridges: A novel osteological correlate of postcranial neuroanatomy in dinosaurs

open access: yesThe Anatomical Record, Volume 308, Issue 5, Page 1349-1368, May 2025.
Abstract In this article, we document the widespread presence of bony ridges in the neural canals of non‐avian dinosaurs, including a wide diversity of sauropods, two theropods, a thyreophoran, and a hadrosaur. These structures are present only in the caudal vertebrae.
