Intratracheal stent intubation under extracorporeal lung assist
Surgery Today, 1995An artificial stent was intubated using extracorporeal lung assist (ECLA) in two patients with inoperable tracheal stenosis. In a patient with an endotracheal tumor, an airway obstruction due to a partial stent collapse was overcome by an immediate ECLA perfusion.

Continuous Calculation of Intratracheal Pressure in Tracheally Intubated Patients
Anesthesiology, 1993Intratracheal pressure (Ptrach) should be the basis for analysis of lung mechanics. If measured at all, Ptrach is usually assessed by introducing a catheter into the trachea via the lumen of the endotracheal tube (ETT). The authors propose a computer-assisted method for calculating Ptrach on a point-by-point basis by subtracting the flow-dependent ...

Intubation Bougie Dissection of Tracheal Mucosa and Intratracheal Airway Obstruction
Anesthesia & Analgesia, 2008Intubation bougies are commonly used to aid in intubation when an optimal view of the larynx is not obtained. We describe a case of tracheal perforation using a disposable intubation bougie resulting in a complete intratracheal airway obstruction relieved by cricothyrotomy.

[Intratracheal intubation using a fiberoptic laryngoscope].
Annales francaises d'anesthesie et de reanimation, 1991Experience with a new type of laryngoscope (Bullard) is reported. It weighs 1,200 kg, and has fiberoptic fibers both for lighting and viewing. Angle of vision is about 55 degrees. Endotracheal intubation with this device requires a semi-rigid stylet to bend the tracheal tube at 90 degrees just above its cuff, so as to reproduce the curvature of the ...

[A rare cause of difficult intratracheal intubation: Langenbeck's disease].
Annales francaises d'anesthesie et de reanimation, 1991A case of difficult tracheal intubation due to insufficient mouth opening once anaesthesia had been induced is described. At the pre-anaesthetic visit, the 47-year-old female patient had painless restricted mouth opening (two fingers' breadth), dental malpositions, and slight lateral mandibular deviation. Cervical spine movements were normal.

[Laryngeal complications in newborns following intratracheal intubation (author's transl)].
Monatsschrift fur Kinderheilkunde, 1977Histological and bacteriological findings in comparison to clinical data concerning intubation for 38 dead premature infants and newborns were studied to elucidate conditions complicating intratrachial intubation at the laryngeal level. The larynx was intact in 3 cases. Slight lesions of mucosa (epithelabrasion, hemorrhage) were found in 13, moderately
