Intravascular ultrasound imaging as a novel tool for the diagnosis of endofibrosis

open access: yesJournal of Vascular Surgery Cases and Innovative Techniques, 2016
Given the rise of high-intensity sport athletes and the paucity of literature on endofibrosis, we describe a novel adjunctive imaging technique to aid in diagnosis. A 41-year-old female triathlete presented with exercise-limiting claudication. Results of

Stratification of THROMBOTIC RISK in patients that are undergoing to PICC implantation. The “CoRa-MaPiCC STUDY” [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: The PICC is a central venous system inserted in the peripherally vein. The central peripheral catheter catheter system (PICC=peripherally inserted central catheters) is a widely used procedure in clinical practice by medical and nurse team ...

Monocyte‐Differentiation‐Activated Fluorescent “Scout” Probe for Precise in Vivo Detection of Vulnerable Plaque

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
An innovative monocyte‐differentiation‐activated fluorescent “scout” probe (MDAF) leverages the inherent chemotaxis of monocytes toward vulnerable plaques (VAP) to enable efficient targeted delivery while achieving spatiotemporally controllable activation of its AIE fluorescent signals with the dynamic differentiation of monocytes, providing an ...

Safety, Effectiveness and Cost-effectiveness of Intravascular Ultrasound in Comparison with Invasive Angiography: A Rapid Health Technology Assessment

open access: yesبیمارستان, 2016
Background: Intravascular imaging is a tool to detect coronary artery atherosclerosis which plays the major role in vessel stenosis degree determination and plaque pathology as a supplement of invasive angiography.

Acoustic Communication for Medical Nanorobots

open access: yes, 2012
Communication among microscopic robots (nanorobots) can coordinate their activities for biomedical tasks. The feasibility of in vivo ultrasonic communication is evaluated for micron-size robots broadcasting into various types of tissues.

Soft‐Drug‐Inspired MnSTF Nano‐Adjuvant for Safe and Synergistic cGAS–STING Activation in Tumor Immunotherapy

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study introduces MnSTF, a soft‐drug‐inspired nanoadjuvant that overcomes the systemic toxicity of STING agonists. Through Mn2+ coordination with an ENPP1 inhibitor, it enables safe cGAS‐STING activation, remodels the tumor immune microenvironment, and synergizes with radiotherapy or vaccines to elicit robust antitumor immunity.

A new approach for improving coronary plaque component analysis based on intravascular ultrasound images [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Virtual histology intravascular ultrasound (VH-IVUS) is a clinically available technique for atherosclerosis plaque characterization. It, however, suffers from a poor longitudinal resolution due to electrocardiogram (ECG)-gated acquisition.

Stimuli‐Responsive Supramolecular Biomaterials for Cancer Theranostics

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The ultimate goal of cancer theranostics is to get imaging agents and therapeutic cargo to tumor sites when and where they are required. “Smart” systems should be developed. This review discusses the characteristics of physiological stimuli, types and action modes of external stimuli, construction approaches and working principles, as well as ...

Functional Versus Anatomic Assessment of Myocardial Bridging by Intravascular Ultrasound: Impact of Arterial Compression on Proximal Atherosclerotic Plaque

open access: yesJournal of the American Heart Association: Cardiovascular and Cerebrovascular Disease, 2016
BackgroundThe presence of a myocardial bridge (MB) has been shown to promote atherosclerotic plaque formation proximal to the MB, presumably because of hemodynamic disturbances provoked by retrograde blood flow toward this segment in cardiac systole.
