Non-invasive MR assessment of the microstructure and microcirculation in regional lymph nodes for rectal cancer: a study of intravoxel incoherent motion imaging

open access: yesCancer Imaging, 2019
Background The aim of this study is to evaluate the microstructure and microcirculation of regional lymph nodes (LNs) in rectal cancer by using non-invasive intravoxel incoherent motion MRI (IVIM-MRI), and to distinguish metastatic from non-metastatic ...

Empirical noise mapping guides optimal region‐of‐interest selection for accurate noise estimation in prostate DWI

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 27, Issue 9, September 2026.
Abstract Background Signal‐to‐noise ratio (SNR) measurements are important for quality assurance, especially when quantitative MRI markers or new hardware are being developed or evaluated. Regions of low signal or assumed uniform signal are used for SNR estimation in a variety of MR image types, but this is unreliable due to spatial heterogeneity of ...

Detection of synovial inflammation in the sacroiliac joint space through intravoxel incoherent motion imaging: an alternative to contrast agents [PDF]

open access: yes
PURPOSE: We investigated the diagnostic accuracy of simplified intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) imaging for detecting synovial inflammation in the sacroiliac joint (SIJ) in a population with active sacroiliitis.

intravoxel incoherent motion measurements in the human placenta using echo-planar imaging at 0.5 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
This paper presents the first in vivo measurements of intravoxel incoherent motion in the human placenta, obtained using the pulsed gradient spin echo (PGSE) sequence. The aims of this study were two-fold.

Comparison of Intravoxel Incoherent Motion Parameters across MR Imagers and Field Strengths: Evaluation in Upper Abdominal Organs [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Purpose To determine the reproducibility of intravoxel incoherent motion (IVIM) parameters measured in upper abdominal organs with magnetic resonance (MR) imagers from different vendors and with different field strengths.

Self‐Supervised Deep Learning Framework for Rician Distribution Based Denoising and Modeling of Multi‐b Prostate Diffusion MRI

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 96, Issue 2, Page 928-942, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose Convolutional neural networks (CNNs) are evaluated for improved and accelerated denoising and Rician bias correction in multi‐b DW images with simultaneous signal modeling. Methods Prostate diffusion images from 46 individuals acquired at 20 linearly distributed b‐values (bmax=2000s/mm2) without averaging were used for self‐supervised ...

Real‐Time, Inline Quantitative MRI Enabled by Scanner‐Integrated Machine Learning: A Proof of Principle With NODDI

open access: yesMagnetic Resonance in Medicine, Volume 96, Issue 2, Page 986-995, August 2026.
ABSTRACT Purpose The clinical feasibility and translation of many advanced quantitative MRI (qMRI) techniques are inhibited by their restriction to ‘research mode’, due to resource‐intensive, offline parameter estimation. This work aimed to achieve ‘clinical mode’ qMRI, by real‐time, inline parameter estimation with a trained neural network (NN) fully ...

Estimating the Sodium Content: A Case Series of Benign and Malignant Renal Tumours Using 23Na‐MRI at 3 T

open access: yesNMR in Biomedicine, Volume 39, Issue 8, August 2026.
23Na‐MRI at 3 T was applied to estimate TSC in patients with kidney tumours of different pathologies, which are indistinguishable on conventional imaging methods. The apparent TSC was significantly higher in renal oncocytomas (benign) compared to chromophobe renal cell carcinomas (malignant): 162 ± 58 mM vs. 71 ± 2 mM (p < 0.05).
