Correspondence Between Intrinsic Mode Functions and Slow Flows

Volume 1: 22nd Biennial Conference on Mechanical Vibration and Noise, Parts A and B, 2009
We study the correspondence between analytical and empirical slow-flow analyses, which will form a basis for a time-domain nonparametric nonlinear system identification method. Given a sufficiently dense set of sensors, measured time series recorded throughout a mechanical or structural system contains all information regarding the dynamics of that ...

Optical diagnosis of cervical cancer by intrinsic mode functions

SPIE Proceedings, 2017
In this paper, we make use of the empirical mode decomposition (EMD) to discriminate the cervical cancer tissues from normal ones based on elastic scattering spectroscopy. The phase space has been reconstructed through decomposing the optical signal into a finite set of bandlimited signals known as intrinsic mode functions (IMFs).

Wigner-Ville distribution based on intrinsic mode function

2001 CIE International Conference on Radar Proceedings (Cat No.01TH8559), 2002
A new method for suppressing the cross-term of the Wigner-Ville distribution is presented. It is designated as Wigner-Ville distribution based on intrinsic mode function. It includes two procedures. First, using a method of signal decomposition, a complicated signal is decomposed into a finite and often small number of basic components-intrinsic mode ...

A feature directly extracted from Intrinsic Mode Functions

2017 IEEE Radar Conference (RadarConf), 2017
This paper presents a general approach for extracting the specific feature directly from all the Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMF). It is believed that every IMF is possessed with its own physical meaning. However, a detailed signature is a part of the specially determined IMF.

The Intrinsic Mode Function Time Delay Method for beamforming

2012 Oceans, 2012
This paper presents the Intrinsic Mode Function Time Delay Method (IMFTDM) which is based on Hilbert Huang Transform (HHT) and its application in beamforming. The IMFTDM can delay the broadband Intrinsic Mode Function (IMF) by arbitrary time accurately.

An Evaluation of Intrinsic Mode Function Characteristic of Non-Gaussian Autorregresive Processes

2021
Empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is a suitable transformation to analyse non-linear time series. This work presents a empirical study of intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) provided by the empirical mode decomposition. We simulate several non-gaussian autoregressive processes to characterize this decomposition. Firstly, we studied the probability density

Identification of significant intrinsic mode functions for the diagnosis of induction motor fault

The Journal of the Acoustical Society of America, 2014
For the analysis of non-stationary signals generated by a non-linear process like fault of an induction motor, empirical mode decomposition (EMD) is the best choice as it decomposes the signal into its natural oscillatory modes known as intrinsic mode functions (IMFs).

A De-noising Scheme Based on the Null Hypothesis of Intrinsic Mode Functions

IEEE Signal Processing Letters, 2016
Empirical mode decomposition is a nonparametric adaptive tool that decomposes signals into a set of zero-mean modes called intrinsic mode functions (IMFs) that can be used to denoise a signal by selecting the relevant (noise-free) modes. In this paper, the statistical properties of IMFs, produced by a range of signal distributions, are examined ...

Characterization of Intrinsic Mode Functions of the Electrical Cochlear Response

2019
The aim of this paper was to characterize the Intrinsic Mode Functions (IMFs) of the Electrical Cochlear Response (ECR) obtained by Ensemble Empirical Mode Decomposition. Sample Entropy was used to identify the IMFs related to background noise, Cochlear Implant artefact, and ECR.

Analysis of Intrinsic Mode Functions Based on Curvature Motion-Like PDEs

2015
We provide here some contributions for both the comprehension and theoretical modeling of the well known Empirical Mode Decomposition (EMD) method in 2D. This is achieved by reconsidering the so-called local mean which is formulated now with the morphological median operator.
