Protein pyrophosphorylation by inositol pyrophosphates — detection, function, and regulation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Protein pyrophosphorylation is an unusual signaling mechanism that was discovered two decades ago. It can be driven by inositol pyrophosphate messengers and influences various cellular processes. Herein, we summarize the research progress and challenges of this field, covering pathways found to be regulated by this posttranslational modification as ...

Seasonality, abundance, species richness and specificity of the phytophagous guild of insects on oak (Quercus) canopies

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Entomology, 2004
1. A study was made by knockdown sampling and branch clipping of the arthropod fauna of two native oaks (Quercus petraea and Q. robur) and of two introduced species (Q. cerris and Q. ilex) in woods near Oxford, U.K., and of two native species (Q.

Time after time – circadian clocks through the lens of oscillator theory

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Oscillator theory bridges physics and circadian biology. Damped oscillators require external drivers, while limit cycles emerge from delayed feedback and nonlinearities. Coupling enables tissue‐level coherence, and entrainment aligns internal clocks with environmental cues.

Participating of introduced and local species in decorative design of clearings in the different periods of existence of Park Trostjanets

open access: yesІнтродукція Рослин, 2012
It is shown a comparative analysis over of orientation of changes, that take place in the course of time in the species composition and number of arboreal plants of introduced and aborigine species that design park clearings.

An upstream open reading frame regulates expression of the mitochondrial protein Slm35 and mitophagy flux

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This study reveals how the mitochondrial protein Slm35 is regulated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. The authors identify stress‐responsive DNA elements and two upstream open reading frames (uORFs) in the 5′ untranslated region of SLM35. One uORF restricts translation, and its mutation increases Slm35 protein levels and mitophagy.

Aliens on the Road: Surveying Wildlife Roadkill to Assess the Risk of Biological Invasion

open access: yesBiology, 2023
Monitoring the presence and distribution of alien species is pivotal to assessing the risk of biological invasion. In our study, we carried out a worldwide review of roadkill data to investigate geographical patterns of biological invasions.

Habitat segregation between two congeneric and introduced goby species [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Spatial segregation is one of the most important mechanisms that facilitates coexistence among competing species. Large populations of two introduced and congeneric goby species (Rhinogobius giurinus and Rhinogobius cliffordpopei) now co-occur in Lake ...
