Unwanted intrusive thoughts and the growth of facial hair: a cognitive analysis

Behaviour Research and Therapy, 1997
The functional connection between unwanted intrusive hair growth and negative automatic cognitions is described and illustrated by case-material. Treatment by cognitive-behavioural therapy (CBT) is recommended as generally successful except when certain facts are denied.

Geometric Scaling of Tabular Igneous Intrusions: Implications for Emplacement and Growth

2017
The horizontal (L) and vertical (T) dimensions of broadly tabular, sub-horizontal intrusions of mafic to felsic composition emplaced into shallow to mid-crustal levels of continental crust reveal two well-defined and continuous curves in log L vs. log T space.

A non-intrusive methodology for the representation of crack growth stochastic processes

Mechanics Research Communications, 2015
Abstract In this paper, we present a methodology to pursue the uncertainty quantification of the stochastic process that represents the crack growth problem. The main idea of this methodology is to discretize the crack growth process in a sequence of random variables and then, approximate each of them using a stochastic polynomial approach.

Carbonate platform growth influenced by contemporaneous basaltic intrusion (Albian of Larrano, Spain)

Sedimentology, 2003
Abstract Carbonate platform growth in active tectonic settings may be strongly influenced by the structural evolution of the basin, including volcanic activity. In this paper, the sedimentary–tectonic evolution of the Duranguesado carbonate platform (Larrano) in northern Spain is described, and an evolutionary depositional model is presented.

Growth and steady state stages of thermohaline intrusions in the Arctic Ocean

Journal of Geophysical Research: Oceans, 2001
Thermohaline intrusions are a widespread feature of the Arctic Ocean pycnocline and may be important for the lateral transport of heat, salt, and other tracers. In an attempt to understand the dynamics of the intrusions, we present an analysis of hydrographic observations of a front north of Svalbard.

How colony growth affects forager intrusion between neighboring harvester ant colonies

Behavioral Ecology and Sociobiology, 1992
Colonies of the harvester ant, Pogonomyrmex barbatus, adjust the direction and length of foraging trails in response to the foraging behavior of their conspecific neighbors. In the absence of any interaction with its neighbor, a mature colony expands its foraging range at a rate of 0.85 ± 0.15 m per day.

Intrusive Rumination, Deliberate Rumination, and Posttraumatic Growth Among Adolescents After a Tornado

Journal of Nervous & Mental Disease, 2019
Abstract Posttraumatic growth (PTG) may exist in trauma survivors, especially adolescents, whereas rumination is a typical cognitive characteristic among traumatized individuals. However, there were mixed relationships between rumination (intrusive rumination, deliberate rumination) and PTG.

Reducing intrusive memories and promoting posttraumatic growth with Traveler: A randomized controlled study

Applied Psychology: Health and Well-Being
Abstract Over recent decades, serious games have become a promising intervention approach for addressing psychological problems by providing users with computerized, engaging, and interactive experiences. An innovative serious game, Traveler, has been developed specifically as an intervention tool for managing posttraumatic responses ...
