Hybrid Cell Membrane‐Engineered Nanocarrier for Triple‐Action Strategy to Address Pseudomonas aeruginosa Infection

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 6, February 10, 2025.
This study presents a bioinspired nanocarrier designed for targeted antibiotic delivery against Pseudomonas aeruginosa infections. Engineered with hybrid cell membranes, the nanocarriers exhibit neutrophil‐like chemotaxis and platelet‐like bacteria adhesion, facilitating effective toxin neutralization and bacterial clearance.

Undersampling and Bagging of Decision Trees in the Analysis of Cardiorespiratory Behavior for the Prediction of Extubation Readiness in Extremely Preterm Infants [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2018
Extremely preterm infants often require endotracheal intubation and mechanical ventilation during the first days of life. Due to the detrimental effects of prolonged invasive mechanical ventilation (IMV), clinicians aim to extubate infants as soon as they deem them ready.

Effect of magnesium sulfate nebulization on the incidence of postoperative sore throat

open access: yesJournal of Anaesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology, 2016
Background: Postoperative sore throat (POST) is a well-recognized complication after general anesthesia (GA). Numerous nonpharmacological and pharmacological measures have been used for attenuating POST with variable success.

Endotracheal Tube Detection and Segmentation in Chest Radiographs using Synthetic Data [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Chest radiographs are frequently used to verify the correct intubation of patients in the emergency room. Fast and accurate identification and localization of the endotracheal (ET) tube is critical for the patient. In this study we propose a novel automated deep learning scheme for accurate detection and segmentation of the ET tubes.

Short‐term outcomes of robot‐assisted versus conventional minimally invasive esophagectomy: A propensity score‐matched study via a nationwide database

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, Volume 9, Issue 1, Page 109-118, January 2025.
In Japan, the national universal health insurance system started to cover robot‐assisted minimally invasive esophagectomy (RA‐MIE) in April 2018. In this Japanese nationwide study using rigorous propensity score methods, 1092 patients were selected, and RA‐MIE and C‐MIE demonstrated comparable morbidity rates. RA‐MIE was safely introduced in the nation.

Bronchoscopic lung lavage and exogenous surfactant successfully reverse respiratory failure after severe chlorine exposure: A pediatric case report

open access: yesClinical Case Reports, Volume 13, Issue 1, January 2025.
Extended parenchymal opacities are present in both lungs. Key Clinical Message Although the symptoms of accidental chlorine inhalation are typically mild, severe exposure can result in acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS). We present a case of pediatric ARDS due to chlorine exposure in which lung lavage and exogenous surfactant were successful in

Esophageal misplacement of a single-lumen tube after its exchange for a double-lumen tube despite the use of an airway-exchange catheter

open access: yesSaudi Journal of Anaesthesia, 2013
An airway-exchange catheter (AEC) can increase the safety of exchanges of endotracheal tubes (ETTs); however, the procedure is associated with potential risks.

Mapping genetic determinants of host susceptibility to Pseudomonas aeruginosa lung infection in mice. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Background: P. aeruginosa is one of the top three causes of opportunistic human bacterial infections. The remarkable variability in the clinical outcomes of this infection is thought to be associated with genetic predisposition.
