Direct digital intratracheal intubation for neonatal resuscitation
The Journal of Pediatrics, 1968Summary The technique of digital introduction of endotracheal tubes for neonatal resuscitation is easy to learn, requires simple and dependable equipment, and has few dangers and limitations. Proficiency in the method allows the unaided physician quickly and easily to establish and use a patent airway for neonatal ...

Continuous Calculation of Intratracheal Pressure in Tracheally Intubated Patients
Anesthesiology, 1993Intratracheal pressure (Ptrach) should be the basis for analysis of lung mechanics. If measured at all, Ptrach is usually assessed by introducing a catheter into the trachea via the lumen of the endotracheal tube (ETT). The authors propose a computer-assisted method for calculating Ptrach on a point-by-point basis by subtracting the flow-dependent ...

Intratracheal stent intubation under extracorporeal lung assist
Surgery Today, 1995An artificial stent was intubated using extracorporeal lung assist (ECLA) in two patients with inoperable tracheal stenosis. In a patient with an endotracheal tumor, an airway obstruction due to a partial stent collapse was overcome by an immediate ECLA perfusion.

[Intratracheal intubation using a fiberoptic laryngoscope].
Annales francaises d'anesthesie et de reanimation, 1991Experience with a new type of laryngoscope (Bullard) is reported. It weighs 1,200 kg, and has fiberoptic fibers both for lighting and viewing. Angle of vision is about 55 degrees. Endotracheal intubation with this device requires a semi-rigid stylet to bend the tracheal tube at 90 degrees just above its cuff, so as to reproduce the curvature of the ...

Intubation Bougie Dissection of Tracheal Mucosa and Intratracheal Airway Obstruction
Anesthesia & Analgesia, 2008Intubation bougies are commonly used to aid in intubation when an optimal view of the larynx is not obtained. We describe a case of tracheal perforation using a disposable intubation bougie resulting in a complete intratracheal airway obstruction relieved by cricothyrotomy.

[Effects of urapidil on the cardiovascular response to intratracheal intubation].
Annales francaises d'anesthesie et de reanimation, 1991The effects of urapidil on the haemodynamic response to endotracheal intubation were compared to that of placebo in two groups of 25 patients scheduled for general surgery. Normal saline solution or 0.4 mg.kg-1 urapidil were injected 3 min before induction of anaesthesia with 3 micrograms.kg-1 fentanyl, 0.3 mg.kg-1 etomidate and 0.1 mg.kg-1 vecuronium.
