Plastic screen versus aerosol box as a barrier during endotracheal intubation: A simulation-based crossover study

open access: yesBali Journal of Anesthesiology, 2021
Background: The severe acute respiratory syndrome coronavirus-2-2019 pandemic has posed significant challenges and barrier devices such as aerosol/intubation box, intubation tent, and intubation screen have been widely used during endotracheal intubation

A study to compare Air-Q intubating laryngeal airway with Ambu Auragain laryngeal mask for blind tracheal intubation using Parker flex tip tube

open access: yesJournal of Anaesthesiology Clinical Pharmacology, 2021
Background and Aims: A number of supraglottic airways have been developed to facilitate the passage of tracheal tubes. Various studies have been conducted using air-Q ILA as a conduit for endotracheal intubation.

3D Bioprinting‐Assisted Engineering of Stem Cell‐Laden Hybrid Biopatches With Distinct Geometric Patterns Considering the Mechanical Characteristics of Regular and Irregular Connective Tissues

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A hybrid biopatch platform integrating 3D printed polymeric patterns with stem cell‐laden collagen bioinks is developed to mimic the mechanical properties of connective tissues. By tailoring geometric architectures, the constructs replicate anisotropic or isotropic mechanics, enhancing tissue‐specific regeneration.

Volumetric 3D Printing and Melt‐Electrowriting to Fabricate Implantable Reinforced Cardiac Tissue Patches

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This study presents an implantable reinforced cardiac patch (RCPatch) combining volumetrically 3D‐printed metamaterials with melt‐electrowritten (MEW) meshes. The design integrates tunable stiff polymer structures with soft, cell‐laden hydrogels. The RCPatch withstands suturing, intraventricular pressure, and cardiac contraction in a large animal ...

Predictive value of difficult airway identifiers for intubation‐related complications in the emergency department

open access: yesLaryngoscope Investigative Otolaryngology, 2021
Objectives The Airway Alert banner at our institution alerts physicians to patients with the potential for a difficult intubation. Difficult airway guidelines can reduce intubation complications in the operating room, but little research has been done in

Submental Intubation

open access: yesPlastic and Reconstructive Surgery - Global Open, 2018
Summary: Acquisition of a secure airway is an essential element of the operative management of maxillofacial trauma. Of the options available, submental intubation is an alternative to tracheostomy. The access should be accomplished via a midline approach rather than lateral through the mylohyoid, an armored endotracheal tube ...

A Hydro‐Expansive and Degradable Biomaterial Enabling Shape Recovery of Film‐Based Devices in Biofluids

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A chitosan‐based bio‐composite exhibits stable and strong tensile strength during volumetric expansion in body fluids, serving as a functional coating that enables a thin film‐based device to self‐flatten from its tubular shape required for catheter delivery.
