Modeling study on the combustion of intumescent fire-retardant polypropylene

open access: yeseXPRESS Polymer Letters, 2007
The heat transfer and burning behavior of the intumescent fire-retardant polypropylene were studied by the cone calorimeter at heat flux levels of 50 kW.m-2 to establish an essential physical model for the intumescence process in fire.

Intumescent Coatings as Fire Retardants [PDF]

open access: yes, 1970
Fire-retardant paint, when activated by the heat of fire, reacts to form a thick, low-density, polymeric coating or char layer.

Bio‐Inspired Robust Non‐combustible Bioplastic with Superinsulated Energy Harvesting for Intelligent Firefighting

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
This study develops a novel non‐combustible chitosan‐based bioplastic (NCCB) via ethanol‐induced surface assembly. The material's inherent flame retardancy and thermally insulating, rough surface enable high‐performance TENGs. The NCCB‐TENG maintains stable output even when exposed to fire and exhibits dual sensitivity to temperature (25–200°C) and ...

Intumescent-ablator coatings using endothermic fillers [PDF]

open access: yes, 1978
An intumescent-ablator coating composition which contains the ammonium salt of 1,4-nitroaniline-2-sulfonic acid or 4,4 dinitrosul fanilide, a polymeric binder system and about 5 to 30% weight of an endothermic filler is reported.

Methyl Methacrylate Oligomerically-Modified Clay and its Poly (Methyl Methacrylate) Nanocomposites [PDF]

open access: yes, 2005
A methyl methacrylate oligomerically-modified clay was used to prepare poly(methyl methacrylate) clay nanocomposites by melt blending and the effect of the clay loading level on the modified clay and corresponding nanocomposite was studied.

Effect of Ammonium Polyphosphate/Silicate Content on the Postfire Mechanics of Epoxy Glass‐Fiber Composites Using Facile Chocolate Bar‐Inspired Structures

open access: yesFire and Materials, Volume 49, Issue 3, Page 329-346, April 2025.
ABSTRACT This study investigates the postfire mechanical properties of epoxy glass‐fiber reinforced composites (EP GFRCs) using increasing concentrations of ammonium polyphosphate (APP) and inorganic silicate (InSi) to modify the char and fire residue.

Spinal cord anaplastic meningioma with extra-neural metastasis in a cat

open access: yesCiência Rural, 2018
: Meningiomas are the most frequent neoplasms involving the brain in dogs and cats, and are occasionally observed in the spinal cord. They cause compression of the central nervous system; however, do not infiltrate the neuropile and rarely metastasize ...

A Carbocation Substituted Clay and its Styrene nanocomposite [PDF]

open access: yes, 2004
A substituted tropylium ion can be ion-exchanged onto montmorillonite to give a novel organically-modified clay. One can prepare a polystyrene nanocomposite of this clay by emulsion, but not bulk, polymerization.

Phosphorus and Silicon Modified Alginate as an Efficient Flame Retardant for Poly(lactic acid)

open access: yesMacromolecular Materials and Engineering
The introduction of biobased carbon sources in intumescent flame retardant formulations is extensively explored, particularly for biopolymers such as poly(lactic acid) (PLA). In this work, the flame retardant efficiency of alginate, a favorable renewable
