Is it necessary to screen for celiac disease in all children with intussusception?

open access: yesTrends in Pediatrics
Objective: While there is a close relationship between celiac disease (CD) and intussusception, it is not yet clear whether the detection of intussusception in children requires physicians to always screen for CD. In our study, we aimed to determine the

The Role of Hydrocolonic Sonography in Diagnostics of the Intussusceptions due to Neoplastic Process in Children

open access: yesКреативная хирургия и онкология, 2019
Introduction. A nonsurgical reduction is the treatment of choice for intestinal intussusception. A neoplasm-associated intussusception always requires surgery.

Small Extracellular Vesicles from Neural Cells: Physiological and Pathological Roles, and Potential in Neurodegenerative Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Neural cell–derived small extracellular vesicles (sEVs) are emerging as pivotal mediators in neurodegenerative diseases, exerting both pathogenic and therapeutic functions. This review synthesizes current evidence on how sEVs from distinct neural cell types regulate neurodegeneration, neuroprotection, biomarker discovery, and targeted drug delivery ...

Trends and measurement of HIV prevalence in northern Malawi.

open access: yes, 2003
BACKGROUND: Most data on HIV prevalence in Malawi come from antenatal clinic (ANC) surveillance and are, therefore, subject to bias. OBJECTIVES: HIV prevalence and risk factors were measured using population-based data to assess the accuracy of ANC ...

Adenomyoma of the small intestine a rare pathological lead point for intussusception in an infant [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
INTRODUCTION: Intussusception is a typical abdominal emergency in early childhood. CASE DESCRIPTION: We report a case of an infant in the typically affected age group with an intussusception triggered by a rare benign intramural intestinal adenomyoma as ...

Gemella morbillorum Promotes Colorectal Carcinogenesis: LPBDCP‐Mediated Invasion Activates Ras Signaling and Destabilizes p53

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Gut microbiota dysbiosis promotes colorectal cancer (CRC) tumorigenesis. A global fecal metagenomic analysis identified Gemella morbillorum as a key contributor to the CRC‐associated microbiota. Fluorescence in situ hybridization revealed that Gemella morbillorum is enriched in CRC tumor tissues compared to adjacent normal tissues.

Tumor angiogenesis and anti-angiogenic therapy in malignant gliomas revisited [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The cellular and molecular mechanisms of tumor angiogenesis and its prospects for anti-angiogenic cancer therapy are major issues in almost all current concepts of both cancer biology and targeted cancer therapy. Currently, (1) sprouting angiogenesis, (2)

Ileocecal and appendiceal intussusception associated with typhlitis in a child with medullary aplasia: A case report

open access: yesRadiology Case Reports
Appendicular intussusception is a rare form of intestinal intussusception where the appendix itself invaginates into the adjacent cecum or colon. It accounts for a small percentage of all intussusception cases, most commonly affecting children.

A Solution for Exosome‐Based Analysis: Surface‐Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy and Artificial Intelligence

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
Exosomes are emerging as powerful biomarkers for disease diagnosis and monitoring. This review highlights the integration of surface‐enhanced Raman spectroscopy with artificial intelligence to enhance molecular fingerprinting of exosomes. Machine learning and deep learning techniques improve spectral interpretation, enabling accurate classification of ...
