Torsion and divisibility for reciprocity sheaves and 0-cycles with modulus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
The notion of modulus is a striking feature of Rosenlicht-Serre's theory of generalized Jacobian varieties of curves. It was carried over to algebraic cycles on general varieties by Bloch-Esnault, Park, R\"ulling, Krishna-Levine.

Characteristic Number: Theory and Its Application to Shape Analysis

open access: yesAxioms, 2014
Geometric invariants are important for shape recognition and matching. Existing invariants in projective geometry are typically defined on the limited number (e.g., five for the classical cross-ratio) of collinear planar points and also lack the ability ...

Comments on the Links between su(3) Modular Invariants, Simple Factors in the Jacobian of Fermat Curves, and Rational Triangular Billiards [PDF]

open access: yes, 1996
We examine the proposal made recently that the su(3) modular invariant partition functions could be related to the geometry of the complex Fermat curves.

A Thermodynamic 3D Model for the Simulation of Diffusion‐Controlled Alloying Processes in Heterogeneous Material Structures

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

Affine geometry of strata of differentials

open access: yes, 2017
Affine varieties among all algebraic varieties have simple structures. For example, an affine variety does not contain any complete algebraic curve. In this paper we study affine related properties of strata of $k$-differentials on smooth curves which ...

Stress‐Normalized Sensitivity as a Comparative Benchmark for Intrinsically Piezoresistive Nanocomposite Materials in Wearable Electronics

open access: yesAdvanced Materials Technologies, EarlyView.
A stress‐normalised sensitivity metric (S = G/Y) is introduced as a materials‐level benchmark for intrinsically piezoresistive nanocomposites. By decoupling electromechanical response (G) from stiffness (Y), the framework enables direct comparison across diverse systems and clarifies design trade‐offs for wearable sensors.

Invariants of Some Algebraic Curves Related to Drinfeld Modular Curves

open access: yesJournal of Number Theory, 2001
This paper is about properties of Drinfeld modular curves, classifying Drinfeld modules defined on \(\mathbb{F}_q[T]\) (where \(\mathbb{F}_q\) is a finite field), especially formulae for the genera, formulae for the number of cusps, descriptions of function fields\dots.

Continuum Mechanics Modeling of Flexible Spring Joints in Surgical Robots

open access: yesAdvanced Robotics Research, EarlyView.
A new mechanical model of a tendon‐actuated helical extension spring joint in surgical robots is built using Cosserat rod theory. The model can implicitly handle the unknown contacts between adjacent coils and numerically predict spring shapes from straight to significantly bent under actuation forces.

Thirty Years of Turnstiles and Transport [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
To characterize transport in a deterministic dynamical system is to compute exit time distributions from regions or transition time distributions between regions in phase space.
