Broken scale invariance in particle physics

Physics Reports, 1971
Abstract Recent theoretical efforts to understand how scale invariance is broken are reviewed in this paper. Various formulations of approximate scale invariance are considered, with emphasis on the structure of the energy-momentum tensor and the short distance behaviour of field theory.

On physical property tensors invariant under line groups

Acta Crystallographica Section A Foundations and Advances, 2014
The form of physical property tensors of a quasi-one-dimensional material such as a nanotube or a polymer can be determined from the point group of its symmetry group, one of aninfinitenumber of line groups. Such forms are calculated using a method based on the use of trigonometric summations.

Invariance of Physical Systems Under Rotations

2000
Before going further with our study of angular momentum, it will be advantageous to study the general behavior of physical systems under rotations in our 3-D space. If a state vector which describes the state of a physical system is specified by ❘ψ〉, the state vector for the rotated system will be specified by ❘ψrot.〉 = R❘ψ〉. (We use the subscript, rot.

The Lorentz invariance of physical theories

1973
In the previous chapters considerable stress has been laid on the description of physical processes in a Lorentz invariant manner. This result was achieved by the use of the four-vector, whose scalar product with itself or other four-vectors formed a Lorentz invariant quantity.
