Invariant Subspaces and Perturbations [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1992
We study the stability of proper closed invariant subspaces with respect to perturbations in norm of continuous operators on a Hubert space, using a nonlinear C

On pole placement and invariant subspaces [PDF]

open access: yes2013 XXIV International Conference on Information, Communication and Automation Technologies (ICAT), 2013
The classical eigenvalue assignment problem is revisited in this note. We derive an analytic expression for pole placement which represents a slight generalization of the celebrated Bass-Gura and Ackermann formulae, and also is closely related to the modal procedure of Simon and Mitter.

A Bifurcation Lemma for Invariant Subspaces

open access: yesSIAM Journal on Applied Dynamical Systems
The Bifurcation from a Simple Eigenvalue (BSE) Theorem is the foundation of steady-state bifurcation theory for one-parameter families of functions. When eigenvalues of multiplicity greater than one are caused by symmetry, the Equivariant Branching Lemma (EBL) can often be applied to predict the branching of solutions. The EBL can be interpreted as the
