Transverse instability for non-normal parameters

open access: yes, 1998
We consider the behaviour of attractors near invariant subspaces on varying a parameter that does not preserve the dynamics in the invariant subspace but is otherwise generic, in a smooth dynamical system.

Koopman Invariant Subspaces and Finite Linear Representations of Nonlinear Dynamical Systems for Control. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
In this wIn this work, we explore finite-dimensional linear representations of nonlinear dynamical systems by restricting the Koopman operator to an invariant subspace spanned by specially chosen observable functions.

Symmetry Classification and Exact Solutions of a Variable Coefficient Space-Time Fractional Potential Burgers’ Equation

open access: yesInternational Journal of Differential Equations, 2016
We investigate the symmetry properties of a variable coefficient space-time fractional potential Burgers’ equation. Fractional Lie symmetries and corresponding infinitesimal generators are obtained.

Equivalence of helicity and Euclidean self-duality for gauge fields

open access: yesNuclear Physics B, 2019
In the canonical formalism for the free electromagnetic field a solution to Maxwell's equations is customarily identified with its initial gauge potential (in Coulomb gauge) and initial electric field, which together determine a point in phase space. The

Synthesizable differentiation-invariant subspaces

open access: yesGeometric and Functional Analysis, 2019
We describe differentiation-invariant subspaces of $C^\infty(a,b)$ which admit spectral synthesis. This gives a complete answer to a question posed by A.~Aleman and B.~Korenblum. It turns out that this problem is related to a classical problem of approximation by polynomials on the real line.

A reflexive hereditarily indecomposable space with the hereditary invariant subspace property [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
A separable Banach space X satisfies the invariant subspace property (ISP) if every bounded linear operator T∈ℒ(X) admits a non‐trivial closed invariant subspace.

On isomorphisms and hyper-reflexivity of closed subspace lattices

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1991
There are some papers, such as [1], [2] and [3], in which some properties on isomorphism of closed subspace lattices of Hilbert spaces were studied. In this short paper we will point out that the hyper-reflexivity of closed subspace lattice is invariant ...

Invariant Subspaces and Perturbations [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Mathematical Society, 1992
We study the stability of proper closed invariant subspaces with respect to perturbations in norm of continuous operators on a Hubert space, using a nonlinear C ∞ {C^\infty } map of Banach spaces.

Endomorphisms of spaces of virtual vectors fixed by a discrete group

open access: yes, 2015
Consider a unitary representation $\pi$ of a discrete group $G$, which, when restricted to an almost normal subgroup $\Gamma\subseteq G$, is of type II.
