Biological invasions in agricultural settings: insights from evolutionary biology and population genetics [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
Invasion biology and agriculture are intimately related for several reasons and in particular because many agricultural pest species are recent invaders. In this article we suggest that the reconstruction of invasion routes with population genetics-based

Using MALDI‐FTICR Mass Spectrometry to Enhance ZooMS Identifications of Pleistocene Bone Fragments Showing Variable Collagen Preservation

open access: yesRapid Communications in Mass Spectrometry, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Rationale Recent advances in high‐throughput molecular analyses of collagen peptides, especially ZooMS (Zooarchaeology by Mass Spectrometry), have permitted breakthroughs in the analysis of archaeological material that is highly fragmented, a factor that hinders morphological identification.

Note – Gestion des Jussies dans le Marais Poitevin

open access: yesSciences, Eaux & Territoires, 2014
Le maillage hydraulique dense du réseau hydrographique et la quasi-absence de débit estival font du Marais Poitevin une zone particulièrement favorable aux développements de plantes aquatiques.

Study and assessment of compost of different organic mixtures and effect of organic compost tea on plant diseases [PDF]

open access: yes, 2002
Four compost treatments representing different organic mixtures were studied: - Treatment T1: 100% cattle manure - Treatment T2: 80% cattle manure and 20% sheep manure - Treatment T3: 70% cattle manure, 20% sheep manure and 10% poultry manure. -

Using programmable infusion pump in avian species – a validation methodology in geese

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Wildlife face anthropogenic and natural stressors that affect their physiology and behaviour. The activity of the hypothalamic–pituitary–adrenal axis and glucocorticoid (GC) production is intrinsically linked with energy regulation and environmental stressors.

Travelling wave solutions in a negative nonlinear diffusion-reaction model

open access: yes, 2020
We use a geometric approach to prove the existence of smooth travelling wave solutions of a nonlinear diffusion-reaction equation with logistic kinetics and a convex nonlinear diffusivity function which changes sign twice in our domain of interest.

Global determinants of home range sizes in felids: Evidence of human disturbance impact

open access: yesJournal of Animal Ecology, EarlyView.
This study is the first to demonstrate the influence of anthropogenic factors and species richness in felids on home range size across the entire felid taxon. Felids are a taxon of major interest in conservation biology, and gaining a comprehensive view of their spatial ecology will help derive global conservation recommendations.

Démarche exploratoire sur la fertilité des populations et des graines de renouées asiatiques des Côtes d'Armor

open access: yesSciences, Eaux & Territoires, 2019

open access: yesJournal of the Royal Anthropological Institute, EarlyView.
This article argues that the current way of thinking about ethics in sport in primarily biomedical terms, and in particular in terms of the presence of particular pharmaceutical substances, fails to account for broader notions of sporting ethics and fairness in the Global South.
