Opinion: Gavage Administration of MXene as a Route‐Specific Alternative to Intravenous Injection into the Bloodstream of Laboratory Animals for Reducing Systemic Nanotoxicity Risks in Immunosuppression and Post‐Transplantation Models with Bile Acid Modification

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Recent studies reported immunosuppressive properties of specific MXene nanomaterials. Their intravenous injection into the bloodstream of laboratory animals has been a common delivery method to suppress systemic inflammation and prevent transplant rejection.

Spatio-temporal co-occurrence of alien and native molluscs : a modelling approach using physical-chemical predictors [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The invasion of alien species can have serious economic and ecological impacts. Ecologically, invasions often lead to an increased rate of native species replacement and decreased biodiversity.

Invasion of transition hardwood forests by exotic Rhamnus frangula: Chronology and site requirements [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
The invasion chronology and site requirements of the exotic, invasive shrub, glossy buckthorn (Rhamnus frangula), were studied within intact transition hardwood---hemlock---white pine forests in Durham, NH. Data were collected from 63 plots (7 sites with

Rapid Fabrication of Self‐Propelled and Steerable Magnetic Microcatheters for Precision Medicine

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
A rapid Joule heating fabrication method for the production of self‐propelling, adaptive microcatheters, with tunable stiffness and integrated microfluidic channels is presented. Demonstrated through three microrobotic designs, including a steerable guiding catheter, an untethered wave‐crawling TubeBot, and a distal‐end propelled microcatheter, it was ...

Spatial Distribution, Genetic Diversity and Food Choice of Box Tree Moth (Cydalima perspectalis) in Croatia

open access: yesSouth-East European Forestry, 2017
Background and Purpose: Box tree moth (Cydalima perspectalis: Lepidoptera, Crambidae) is an invasive species rapidly spreading through Europe and making considerable damage to native and planted European box plants (Buxus sp.).

Polymorph‐Specific Electronic Transduction in WO3 during Molecular Sensing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Metal‐oxide polymorphs with similar surface chemistry can nevertheless exhibit distinct sensing properties. In γ‐ and ε‐WO3, analyte adsorption appears comparable; yet, only ε‐WO3 induces a pronounced lattice electronic perturbation that accommodates charge in sub‐conduction band minimum states.

Richness and abundance of invasive and expansive plant species and their associated effects on native vegetation in a semi-arid rangeland of the Rift Valley

open access: yesGlobal Ecology and Conservation
Plant invasion studies in Ethiopia are primarily restricted to a few target species only. This study explored the richness and abundance of invasive and expanding plants (native but spreading species) and their effects on rangeland vegetation in the ...

AI–Guided 4D Printing of Carnivorous Plants–Inspired Microneedles for Accelerated Wound Healing

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
This work presents an artificial intelligence (AI)‐guided 4D‐printed microneedle platform inspired by carnivorous plants for wound healing. A thermo‐responsive shape memory polymer enables body temperature–triggered self‐coiling for autonomous wound closure.

De Olho na Mata: monitoring Atlantic Forests with drones and few-shot learning [PDF]

open access: yesThe International Archives of the Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing and Spatial Information Sciences
The expansion of invasive species is a global challenge that leads to the loss of biodiversity habitat, and there are few tools to control it. In São Paulo, identification of invasive species is done through field inspections, in parts of ...
