Performance Measurement for Inventory Routing
Transportation Science, 2007We develop technology to measure the effectiveness of distribution strategies for inventory routing. Popular, practical performance measures, such as volume delivered per mile, are effective in measuring relative performance but inadequate in measuring absolute performance.

The inventory routing problem: the value of integration
International Transactions in Operational Research, 2015AbstractWe consider an inventory routing problem in which a supplier delivers goods to customers over a given planning period. Before the advent of the supply chain management concept, customers usually applied a policy for the inventory management. The supplier then, on the basis of the distribution schedule determined by the customers, organized the

A Matheuristic for the Multivehicle Inventory Routing Problem
INFORMS Journal on Computing, 2017We consider the inventory routing problem, in which a supplier has to replenish a set of customers by means of a limited fleet of capacitated vehicles over a discrete time horizon. The goal is to minimize the total cost of the distribution that comprises the inventory cost at the supplier and at the customers and the routing cost.

A Matheuristic Algorithm for the Inventory Routing Problem
Transportation Science, 2020This work addresses a challenging inventory routing problem that arises from a practical application faced by air-product companies, including Air Liquide. Given its computational complexity and industrial importance, this problem (denoted as IRP-Challenge2016) was presented as the topic of the French Operational Research and Decision Support Society ...

This paper extends the study of the inventory routing problem with slack maximization (IRPSM), which addresses the distribution of relief supplies in response to a sudden emergency. Compared with the classical routing problem, the objective of IRPSM is to maximize the slack in inventory, defined as the difference between the arrival time of new ...

Inventory routing problems: a logistical overview
Journal of the Operational Research Society, 2007Summary: This paper presents an overview of Supply Chain Management while focussing on the area of Inventory Routing. We aim to provide the state-of-the-art in this area while highlighting the usefulness of the models in practice as well as their limitations.

CAR: heuristics for the inventory routing problem
Wireless Networks, 2020Vendor managed inventory (VMI) is a streamlined approach to inventory and order fulfillment and is a system in which vendors continuously and automatically replenish a trading partner’s inventory. Vendors must ensure appropriate quantities of storages at the point of demand and must ensure optimal distribution plans, including routing of the ...

RFID-enabled inventory routing problems
International Journal of Manufacturing Technology and Management, 2007In this paper, we provide a methodology for dynamic control of Radio Frequency Identification- (RFID-) enabled Inventory Routing Problems (IRP), where a set of locations is served by a single distribution centre using a Vendor-Managed Inventory (VMI) approach.

The Continuous-Time Inventory-Routing Problem
Transportation Science, 2020We consider a continuous-time variant of the inventory-routing problem in which the maximum quantity that can delivered to a customer depends on the customer’s storage capacity and product inventory at the time of the delivery. We investigate critical components of a dynamic discretization discovery algorithm and demonstrate in an extensive ...
