An Inverse Boundary Value Problem for a Second Order Elliptic Equation in a Rectangle

open access: yesMathematical Modelling and Analysis, 2014
In this paper, the inverse problem of finding a coefficient in a second order elliptic equation is investigated. The conditions for the existence and uniqueness of the classical solution of the problem under consideration are established. Numerical tests

Spectral estimation and inverse initial boundary value problems

open access: yesInverse Problems & Imaging, 2010
We extend the classical spectral estimation problem to the infinite-dimensional case and propose a new approach to this problem using the Boundary Control (BC) method. Several applications to inverse problems for partial differential equations are provided.

On a quasilinear inverse boundary value problem

open access: yesMathematische Zeitschrift, 1996
We show that the Dirichlet to Neumann map associated to the quasilinear isotropic elliptic equation \(\nabla \cdot \gamma(x, u) \nabla u= 0\) determines uniquely the scalar coefficient \(\gamma(x, z)\), where \((x, z)\in \Omega\times \mathbb{R}\), \(\Omega\subset \mathbb{R}^n\) and \(n\geq 2\).

The Design of Turbomachinery Impellers Based on the Solution of Inverse Boundary Value Problems [PDF]

open access: yesУчёные записки Казанского университета: Серия Физико-математические науки, 2015
The correct design of impellers and choice of the shape of blades are significantly important during the process of creating turbomachines. The development of methods for profiling hydrodynamic cascades with predetermined properties, as well as for stand-

Uniqueness in inverse hyperbolic problems, -Carleman estimate for boundary value problems-

open access: yesKyoto Journal of Mathematics, 2000
The author considers an inverse problem associated with an initial-boundary value problem for a hyperbolic equation. Using the method of \textit{A. L. Bukhgejm} and \textit{M. V. Klibanov} [Sov. Math., Dokl. 24, 244-247 (1981; Zbl 0497.35082)] and some Carleman estimates, some local and global uniqueness results are proved for the solution to this ...

Inverse initial-boundary value problem for systems of quasilinear evolution equations of odd order

open access: yesСовременная математика: Фундаментальные направления
An inverse initial-boundary value problem on a bounded interval for systems of quasilinear evolution equations of odd order is considered. Integral conditions are chosen as overdeterminations, and boundary functions and right-hand sides of equations of a

Eigensolutions of boundary value problems using inverse iteration

open access: yesJournal of Computational and Applied Mathematics, 1991
The method of inverse iteration is described and used to solve eigenvalue problems arising when differential operators are replaced by finite- difference operators. The Orr-Sommerfeld problem is used to test the method of inverse iteration. Both second- and fourth-order difference schemes are used, and the results compared with those obtained by a ...
