Experimental Characterization of Methane Inverse Diffusion Flame
Combustion Science and Technology, 2014This article presents 10-kHz images of OH-PLIF simultaneously with 2-D PIV measurements in an inverse methane diffusion flame. Under a constant fuel flow rate, the central air jet Re was varied, leading to air to fuel velocity ratio, Vr, to vary from 8.3 to 66.5. Starting from Vr = 20.7, the flame is commonly characterized by three distinct zones.

Flame structure of LPG-air Inverse Diffusion Flame in a backstep burner
Fuel, 2010The present experimental study characterizes the turbulent LPG Inverse Diffusion Flame (IDF) stabilized in a backstep burner in terms of visible flame length, dual flame structure, centerline temperature distribution, and oxygen concentration. The visible flame length for a fixed fuel jet velocity is found to reduce with increase in air jet velocity ...

The effect of inverse diffusion flame burner-diameter on flame characteristics and emissions
Energy, 2018Abstract An experimental investigation was performed to study the effect of change of the IDF burner diameters on the flame characteristics (flame length, axial temperature distribution, and flame appearance) and flame emissions. The study was performed using a coaxial (CoA) circular inverse diffusion flame burners of different diameters.

Flame structure of methane inverse diffusion flame
Experimental Thermal and Fluid Science, 2014Abstract This paper presents high speed images of OH-PLIF at 10 kHz simultaneously with 2D PIV (particle image velocimetry) measurements collected along the entire length of an inverse diffusion flame with circumferentially arranged methane fuel jets.

Preferential diffusion effects on the temperature in usual and inverse diffusion flames
Combustion and Flame, 1996Abstract Numerical computations are made of axisymmetric laminar jet diffusion flames taking into account detailed chemical kinetics and multicomponent diffusion. Two types of flames are investigated. The one is a usual flame that is formed around a fuel jet surrounded by an air flow.

Noise generation by open inverse diffusion flames
Journal of Vibration and Control, 2013The acoustic spectra of noise radiation from a turbulent non-premixed inverse diffusion flame were measured and the effect of the point of observation, air jet Reynolds number and overall equivalence ratio on the spectra were examined. The tests were conducted in a wide range of air and fuel flow rates and both the non-reacting and reacting cases were ...

Flamelet-Modeling of Inverse Rich Diffusion Flames
Flow, Turbulence and Combustion, 2012An experimental and numerical investigation of a confined laminar inverse diffusion flame (IDF) with pure oxygen as oxidizer and carbon dioxide diluted methane as fuel with a global stoichiometry of partial oxidation processes (equivalence ratio of 2.5) is presented.

Soot Formation In Laminar Inverse Diffusion Flames
Combustion Science and Technology, 1994Abstract Soot formation in laminar ethylene inverse diffusion flames has been investigated experimentally and modeled. Soot volume fraction and temperature measurements have been made and compared to numerical predictions using a soot formation model previously applied to normal diffusion flames. The inverse flame configuration serves as a good test of
